I'm not gonna say Trip is wrong in his critique of Melo, but damn, you didn't get LeBron, you hate all the CAA clients. Who do you want leading this team?

I want Dolan to get the fukk out of the way, which is never going to happen unfortunately.

He's the reason the Knicks have been a disaster. Hire a basketball man to run the show and let him make the coaching/GM decisions.

Instead we have a Isiah/CAA infusion and a one dimensional superstar

I know he did. He legit wasnt trying under Dantoni.

I like Woodson as a guy, but he isnt going to be able to tell Melo what to do. We've already seen it with the "I was in phenomenal shape" comment.

How long can we expect Melo to give full effort on defense, when his entire career he's given sporadic efforts at best?

There is a decent base here. But there needs to be a system and a coach that pretty much demands respect.

I just don't see the heirarchy here as a winning culture. Melo pretty much will have free reign under Woodson

This is actually a good point, which is why I don't think Phil would coach the Knicks even if he was contacted. But he would've made some mid-game adjustments though, which were non-existent in the Miami series. He would've found a way to get Novak open at least once. He wouldn't have treated J.R. like a star and allow him to shoot brick after ill advised brick. If Melo didn't have it going, there was no alternative play to run on offense, other than let JR take step back 20 footers

With all that said, I think Woodson has earned the right to coach the team next year. I just think they did a disservice to not contact Phil

We've only seen this team at full strength under Woodson for seven games, (and they went 6-1). I'm not ready to pass judgment on this team yet.

No problem in giving him a year to see what he can do with a full offseason and healthy roster. I would definitely evaluate him after the end of next season though. If Phil ends up going to a team comparable to the Knicks as far as how close they are to winning then I could see complaining.

Some of that is on him, but in part, his effort on defense has been sporadic because he's been under 2 coaches who don't preach any kind of defense. I don't wanna absolve Melo of any blame, but George Karl and Mike D'antoni are both overrated and haven't been called out enough on their underwhelming coaching performances over the years.
