Sources: New trade offer in works
By Marc Stein and Chad Ford

Sources told ESPN.com that the Rockets, if they go ahead with their widely reported plans to release starting power forward Luis Scola via the NBA's amnesty clause, are prepared to absorb the contracts of Jason Richardson, Glen Davis and Chris Duhon -- in addition to sending Orlando multiple future first-round picks and recent draftees -- to give the Magic an opportunity to wipe their payroll virtually clean for their post-Howard rebuilding effort.

...

Friday thus looms as a pivotal day in the Rockets' all-out quest to trade for Howard. Not only is Houston expected to formally waive Scola on Friday, but sources say the Rockets will also finalize their long-awaited offer sheet to New York Knicks restricted free agent Jeremy Lin. The Knicks have been adamant that they will match Houston's four-year offer to Lin valued at just under $29 million, but they can take three days to do so once Lin signs

...

The Rockets, in addition, would have to waive a handful of players with nonguaranteed contracts (Shaun Livingston, Courtney Fortson, Josh Harrellson, Jerome Jordan, Jon Leuer, Diamon Simpson and Greg Smith) to clear sufficient cap space. But Houston, sources say, is also offering multiple first-round picks to the Magic, including a potential lottery pick acquired this week from Toronto in the Kyle Lowry deal.

Looks like the Knicks may be able to bring Jorts or Jordan back if the Howard trade goes down. They would have to wait 20 days according to the CBA though.

If a team trades a player and the player is subsequently waived by the assignee team, the assignor team will not be permitted to sign the player to a new contract (or claim him off of waivers) until at least 30 days have passed following the date the trade was made (or 20 days for trades that occur during the off-season).

you sure about that being current?

I thought it was a year to prevent the trade and get back stuff.

Its on their website. Maybe it changed :yeshrug:

edit: Yea you're right

Re-signing a traded player

• 2005 CBA: If a player is traded and subsequently waived by his new team, he cannot re-sign with his original team for 30 days (during the season) or 20 days (during the offseason) following the trade.

• 2011 CBA: If a player is traded and subsequently waived by his new team, he cannot re-sign with his original team for one year following the trade or until July 1 after the last season of the player's contract, whichever is earlier.

that bid dog complex Joe's had for years is what's gonna bring them down. he's gonna be hoggin' it up late in games & taking dumb shots.

we'll see if deron controls that & puts him in his place, if need be.

:krs: I like Joe Johnson, but he better worry more about not knocking up any of these nyc strippers like he did in Atl, than about who's the better NY team.

^^^Joe Johnson caked up like a mufukka. The NYC cost of living wont cause him to even blink.

And even if Jorts :childplease: or Jerome Jordan :mjpls: could come back, the player the Knicks need from that possible waived players list is Shaun Livingston.
