Novak On Knicks Fans

"Like I've said many a million times, there are no greater fans than here in New York," he said. "Growing up in Wisconsin, I always thought Indiana was the home of basketball. I now know that New York is the home of basketball, there is no doubt. They're the smartest. I mean, just getting out there for warmups and seeing the building full. I've never seen that."

If Smith picks up his player option, Lin can be signed with the MLE, Fields can be signed without affecting the cap (which we'll already be over), and Jeffries & Bibby haven't earned anything more than a vet minimum. Novak is probably gone

That (and Novak resigning for cheap) is best case scenario, though. Jeffries probably stays but there's no guarantee Bibby sticks around. We're still only talking 6-7 realistic rotation guys at best until Shump comes back if we can't keep all those guys around. Even if we do - Tyson, Stat, Melo, JR, Fields, Lin, Harrellson and what? Fringe play from balky knees Jeffries and Bibby that we will NEED to play at least 15-20 min productive min each? Douglas? :scusthov: Jordan? :snoop: We go from 10 deep to barely scrapping a bench together. With all the injuries of last year from running guys into the ground that's nothing to play around with when there's some brittle ass pieces in this group.

Grunwald is gonna have to pull some crazy things out of his ass. What's the scrap heap looking like this off season? :sadcam:

:dwillhuh: we'd basically have the same roster minus Baron Davis. Maybe we pick somebody decent off the second round? :yeshrug:

Lin, Shumpert (when he returns), Melo, STAT and Tyson
Bibby (?), Smith, Fields, Jorts, and Jeffries

It's not ideal, but it's the main core we've played with anyway. If we find just 1 decent player we'll be fine

Jeffries wants to be back with the Knicks
Jared Zwerling

"I love New York and this is the best experience of my life being here in the city, being a part of this team, especially this year going wire to wire through the playoffs," he said on ESPN New York 98.7 FM's "Stephen A. Smith and Ryan Ruocco" show on Friday afternoon. "Even though we didn't have the finish we would've liked, we went to the playoffs. This is an era in New York basketball where we've been to the playoffs two years in a row, and we can build on that. I think the key is to get there, get the experience, keep your core group of guys together and keep moving forward."

But if and when Jeffries eventually sits down with GM Glen Grunwald to discuss a contract, he has his pitch ready to go.

"I think that a lot of times whenever you look at the team that wins, you have people that fill roles," he said. "I don't think you can look at scoring, look at guys that are in the media a lot and draw attention for personal accolades. Those don't always equal out to wins. I think that when I'm on the court and when I play well, my actions on the court equal out to wins."

Can't hate on this man at all. He gives it his all when he's on the court and I hope he comes back for cheap again.

Shaq and Chuck said it on TNT, that you don't need know a bunch of moves to be a good low post player. You just need the minimum of two.

don't forget the biggest ingredient talent...but chuck and shaq are different players then STAT...they were unmovable forces in the post...STAT would let a PG push him out of position.. :beli:

So are we really trying to bring back the same squad that we all know is not good enough to win a championship?

:sadcam:

Blow it up and try again.

We seriously need more athletic big men who can finish at the rim. I know for a fact that Jeffries, Harrellson, Jordan can't do that.

I like Shump a lot, but damnit if Kenneth Faried isn't exactly the kind of player this team needs.
