They best secure something before they come off as 'problematic' :mjpls:

For a show like this they will need a large platform as the renumeration is clearly a big factor for em

I cant see em goin the advertising route (bar straight up product placement) cos Joe is so self sabotaging
He didn't wanna do the ads when they first had them before the spotify deal, especially the ones where they were given leeway on what to say.

Rory don't sound all that enthused to be there anymore. Plus Joe ruined their deal and income stream.

We may never know, but I wonder how far off they were in negotiations? That's TOUGH for Rory and Mal to go from having bread to no potential income, but meanwhile Joe has other ventures. I know other podcasts use Patreon and ads to thrive, but they didn't do well with the ads before. Maybe YouTube revenue in addition to ads, but that's a tough situation

Na
I think Joe should stay...and not move because the deal ain't as big as he want yet

A while back on the battle rap show he did an interview

And said dont take a deal too early because you want to show them what you're worth, which was smart

However, I also think once you got a deal, especially when your audience is subscriber based like yall said, you should try to cement yourself and build it up

Wouldnt be surprised if Joe got a stand alone apple radio show. How that translates to a podcast deal idk.

From the sound of it all DSPs and podcast providers are getting the pod and Joe is going to try and get ad money out the mud. No big platform sponsorship would be a tough sell tho

Yup it's all about playing the leverage game. You don't want to take the deal too early while you're still growing, especially not a long term deal. But now they've been on a major platform and received a lot of publicity and promotion and I personally think they are the biggest they'll ever be right now. Now IMO is the time to cash out with a long term secure deal. Even if it comes to ownership is there any money in owning a podcast IP. Podcasts aren't something that are going to generate a lot of old relistens. I could see wanting ownership to be able to create merchandise opportunities or sell it as a TV show as well. Basically though I think this is the most leverage they'll ever have and instead of having an imaginary number in their head they want to accept I'd just accept the best deal.

BUt of course all that's said without knowing what kind of deal they're being offered. Spotify could be lowballing them now that they have other premiere podcasts to bring the eyes to the spotfiy podcast platform.
