Nah that's not true. Majority of my family is from the south. They loved Biggie.

Sure there's pockets that don't care but Biggie was a huge rapper everywhere. So was Jay.

If they saying they don't look at Biggie and Jay like NYC people do, I can get with that. We almost treat them like Gods. But to say they don't like them or just think "they're okay" is over doing it for the most part.

You don't get as big as they did being only big in NY.
Biggie is a generation gap tho. Rap fans from the south that were of the age to start picking the music they wanted to hear in the mid to late 90s were not listening to east coast hiphop.

Most biggie fans got into his music in the 93/94

Nah Ish and ice are right if that’s what they’re saying.

The mid to late 90s ( When No limit and 36 started bubbling) no one was listening to east coast artist no matter how big they were in the mainstream.

Y’all would be surprised how little east coast “golden age” rap hiphop fans from the south now.

There’s plenty of projects and artist talked about as the greatest thing ever from that time that I’ve never heard

Never scared and juicy is a generation gap tho.

This here
You’d need to explain Juves comments about Jay, hard knock life tour and how 3 6 only did what they did.

it's all semantics. how anyone could possibly claim they know the demographics like that of what EVERYONE in regions were feeling. most people look at the past through a rose tinted lense. People think just because their crew shared tapes EVERYONE else was on what they were on.
the most valid metric would be to check tour dates.

If someone claims artist "X"wasn't bumping like that where they're from check the tour dates I suppose. That's probably the closest thing to facts. While Biggie was alive he was doing national tours with international tour dates as well. :manny:

Me and my crew were Max B/Byrdgang Stans. When max was free he was NOT hot like that out here. After he got locked up and the internet blew up so did his legacy. Just an example. Maybe not the best lol. But if you did have mixtape spots during that era you could tell what was hot because they were flying.

you can't really argue radio/TV/clubs (pre-youtube) since it was all payola based anyway.

I've been all over this rock. People's musical taste always surprises me everywhere I've been.

When Snoop came out he really proved that there were bigger markets outside of NY, and the East coast didn’t crack that until Biggie. But remember his first album was a slow burn, sales wise. It wasn’t a blockbuster release like Snoop or Dre. That shyt took awhile and blew up way more in NY than the west, south, etc.

Each region had their own shyt that they preferred. Did artists like Big and Pac also have success outside of their regions? Sure. But if you were from the south you probably didn’t think Big was the best rapper, or Pac.

I just think Flip has too much pride to put up with how Joe treats cohorts , he take the regular Joe trolling personal. And Joe tryna neuter him to talk less..
