surf is needed. ice and ish are dope, but surf is a personality. same way mal was in the beginning (not same personality type).
Yeah Surf gotta be a regular or get his own pod. He's too good at this.
Budden giving Surf a look is overdue. How many people that have been involved with Joe's platform have charisma & a real life following? Many of Surf's fans go with WHATEVER he says. I can pick him apart in battle rap discussions but he's a great bridge to a younger demographic.
He also does the schmoozing up/fake friend thing even better than Joe does.
surf on the couch permanently has insane potential. might even be able to get back to the spotify bag if he wants it.

Ppl like Surf should've been who Joe focused his pod network on. He was trying to pander to BW with the girl pods and the demo he wanted will never support him like that.
girl pods wasn't a bad idea. he just picked the wrong talent. and there's no guarantee surf would have been much better right out the gate. starting him on the couch is a much better long-term strategy, cause if he sticks with it he'll be right in a year or so. and if he doesn't...
.also, hard to launch a network and launch new programming at the same time. joe should have threw the bag at established, successful podcasts and brought their audiences to his network, instead of assuming his audience would consume everything else on the network.

I think we are kind of saying the same thing. I think Joe was trying to tap into a certain demo of BW(he was doing some pandering on his own pod that was see through as hell) with those pods and I'm saying it was never gonna happen because of their baggage and his.
Karen Civil alone was a weird choice, not even mentioning Mandii who is polarizing on the best of days.
