The 1 Wayne mixtape song joe played wouldn’t even get played in a verzuz

I feel like he’s played that multiple times on the podcast…it’s the only mixtape track he knows :mjlol:

to think Wayne doesn’t even have freestyles to beat Grammy family is a WOAT take (I believe that’s what he said..but kinda changed his mind later In the discussion)

Wayne and Jay would be a weird Verzuz. Guys 35 and up, east coast centric especially, would have Jay washing Wayne. And guys 30 and under, would have Wayne washing Jay. The 30-35 crowd will be mixed.

I feel like Jay's records would overpower Wayne with substance though. As great a rapper as Wayne is, he really don't be talking about shyt in them bars. Same reason I think Jay would get Drake out of here in a Verzuz.

That whole segment was weird as hell to me because the one area where Wayne became WAYNE is him freestyling/rapping over other folks beats on his mixtapes. He has a deep deep catalog of freestyles including one of the most popular ones being over a Jay beat and a whole damn era of classic mixtape series.

Time and time again, they show their bias and lack of depth when they try to speak authoritatively on music from other regions outside of NY/east coast rap. If they would have actually let Ice cook and be objective, they would have had a much doper and deeper conversation even though they would have obviously came to the same conclusion. There are at least 20 different arguments you can have for Jay/Wayne from skill to impact to influence to peak popularity to freestyling, etc. and they didn’t touch on any of them.

People seems to forget that versuz is supposed to be a generational thing. You don't put two artist who are not from the same era or else it would get awkward like the fat Joe ja rule one.
Wayne/kanye/drake got no business doing a versuz against Jay

This is why Jay Z the goat. He the only rapper u can plug in to these matchups and it be taken serious.
Cats want him to battle his wife, his own artist, dudes 15 years after his debut, cats 12 years before him, cats from his era, dead guys etc…

he the only one getting this treatment consistently

:dead: for years I’ve heard on the coli and sohh that jay z didn’t talk about nothing

I think subject matter and substance is overrated. It’s all about quotables and they’re even in that

only episode that I couldnt finish out of terrible rap opinions
I dont even care about Jay Vs Wayne but the dikkriding was too extreme

nikkas even discredited Wayne mixtape songs while propping up Jay-z mixtape songs

the worst part is there's no real winner in a verzuz, its just cats complaining and not enjoying shyt

its basically bone thugs vs 3-6 all over again where the music doesnt even match up
one makes party music, the other makes flashy pop shyt

it got even more disgusting when they said jay was gonna freestyle like jadakiss did ... which was overrated based on Dipset being washed up anyway
pretending like Wayne doesnt have a billion verses he could pull out the same way

then it got even worse when he said "everyone expected Dipset to wash The Lox"
a group that's been ragdolled and torn to pieces for the past 10 years, even served by Mase after him not doing shyt for over a decade
most real hiphop heads didnt expect dipset to run over The Lox, lets be real. Remember when Jada and Styles got at 50? :russ: you think computers putin' and im a nazi kamakazi papi is gonna stop Dblock? :bryan:Dipset doesnt even fukk with eachother:snoop:

Jay is like Langston Hughes compared to Wayne. Wayne literally talks about a bunch of nothin majority of his career.

Brehs talking about substance as if there's a judge or committee determining the outcome.
The crowd watching chooses who 'wins' largely in these Versuz. It's about hits and which ones evoke the biggest reaction from the audience. We've already seen how a lot of artist don't realize what their biggest hits were

That's why substance matters. That gets better crowd reactions than random raps. And it sways the crowd watching when you remember how you "felt" the bars because they actually meant something
