I bet right now, somewhere in the universe, there are two civilizations from nearby solar systems in contact with each other. Some making regular visits. Some at war. Some exchanging knowledge.
In other places there are probably two civilizations that popped up in the same solar system. Maybe at different times, millions or billions of years apart, or maybe even at the same time.
The possibilities are endless given the amount of stars they are.

Too many stars out there to not have some form of life present.
Alas, we're like someone standing on the beach on the west coast of Africa, wondering if someone is staring back at us on the otherside.
Our yells for contact unanswered across the stellar ocean.
It's gonna be lit if we ever get a radio transmission from a galaxy far, far away

I love that show. There probably is a Type 4 civilization that had built a similar device.
I've got some time today, it's definitely on my watch list..
