You may have been missing or possibly missing a few chromosomes, Columbia just expelled students for protesting and some of your friends clapped like seals. Additionally, visa holders are being deported due to protesting, but let's remove the facts.
Why didn't this happen under Biden but happened under Trump.

In his letter from ICE Detention Mahmoud Khalil himself identifies the role that the anti-Palestinian racism of the Biden Administration played in creating the conditions for the Trump administration's actions.
You and the other pro-genocide posters in here seem to believe the activists and students being illegally detained and harassed by the Trump Administration are now regretful of their participation in the protests against the Gaza genocide, but I haven't seen any indication of that whatsoever. But it's easy to see how you come to that conclusion when you have no principles beyond your personal comfort that you consider worth risking life and liberty for.

He apportions them some of the blame because they deserve some of the blame. If your racist neighbor calls the police and makes up a lie about how you're about to murder someone in your house, and the racist police come to your house and immediately shoot you, your racist neighbor has blood on their hands as well.
I'm quite certain he's in a better position to assess the culpability for his situation than Democratic Party stans and operatives who are functionally incapable of criticizing the actions of the party and the consequences of those actions.
Why would he blame Hamas for the actions of the Biden and Trump administrations that led to his situation?
The Biden Administration spent a year dehumanizing the Palestinian people and insinuating the people protesting for their human rights were violent, antisemitic criminals. That's the exact rationale that the Trump Administration is now using to justify its actions against the protestors. There is a clear and evident escalatory through line between the two Administrations on this issue.

He would blame Hamas if you authentically follow the chain of causation because without October 7th the events that led him to the gulag wouldn’t have happened.

It's telling your causal chain starts on October 7th. Mahmoud Khalil is a Palestinian born in Syria in 1995 because his parents were refugees from Palestine. You think this all started on October 7th to him? You want him to ignore his own family story and the genocide being perpetrated against his people because it's inconvenient to the Democratic Party who refuses to even consider him a full human being. It's a complete joke.
I think he can keep his head high that he defended the rights and dignity of his people as they were being exterminated with the express approval and support of the American President.
