When the Romans would come across northern barbarian tribes in battle what they would notice is that the initial charge could be devastating, the screaming and the hollering and noise would be disorientating followed a furious clashing of arms. In victory they were boisterous and brash and paraded their laurels and loot. However, over time the Romans figured out that once the initial charge was over the ability of the barbarians to stay in the fight was limited. Any sort of adversity or unexpected new obstacle would quickly cause the barbarians to break and route, throw down their arms and beg for mercy. Also the Romans figured out their behavior in combat and strategy or lack there of was almost never changed. Initial powerful charge with very little variation in tactics or long term strategic planning. This ultimately made them easy to defeat and overtime barbarian armies posed little threat to a healthy Roman legion.
My favorite story is when Marius noticing his soldiers were afraid of facing the bigger stronger Germanics had his soldiers watch them from their fort. They noticed their behavior was more akin to that of children, and the fear his soldiers had quickly turned into contempt.
I get the same feeling today.

Makes sense. Hamas being able to maintain a presence politically in Gaza should be a non-starter.
Just on social media this deal is extremely unpopular with Israeli’s if it doesn’t include Hamas being removed from power.

Nothing about this deal made sense. 50 Palestinians prisoners for 1 Israeli. 10 of the 33 hostages already being dead. Sounds like a Hail Mary from Biden to get aid into Gaza and not a real ceasefire.
