Iphone Sales in 2016 to Underperform, Analysts Say
Kuo's estimated best case scenario for Apple would also mean that the tech giant would still see 11.6 percent reduction in growth.
Regardless of whether his estimates are accurate, Kuo states that Apple will surely underperform this year.
Kuo believes that the reason why iPhone sales this year will be lower than expected is simply because user demand for handsets with large screens are a lot lower.
He also says that Apple's upcoming iPhone 7 won't have many "attractive selling points" as it will not have innovative new features in terms of design, software and hardware.
"While we believed the high-end smartphone market still has room for growth, the development of newer, more innovative user experience is a prerequisite for growth," Kuo stated in his research note via
MacRumors.
Lastly, Kuo believes that Apple will be the only major smartphone maker that will have shipments fall year-on-year.
Design & Trend has been following numerous rumors regarding the iPhone 7, which is expected to launch this fall.
It's widely believed that the iPhone 7 will be a lot thinner than the iPhone 6S, because the 3.5mm headphone jack is rumored to be dropped for the upcoming new handset.
Also, the iPhone 7 is rumored to have an all-glass design that's quite akin to the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.
One of the major changes in Apple's iPhone lineup in 2016 is that the bigger iPhone 7 Plus is expected to have a dual-camera lens, according to Kuo's prediction back in January via
AppleInsider.
