Put that ho in DFU mode I take it youre on windows? If its not recognizing it but redsn0w is then idk what the fukk is up...but you can do a "restore" with redsnow if you point it to 6.0.1. Im gone off some absinthe so thats the most I can do for you

Let me give you guys the total rundown on where I'm currently at
I was following some tutorials. Basically most lead to Redsnow
I was reading one about redsnow, but it took me to geohot limerain
I did that thinking it was related to redsnow... it did the trick
So now I"m jailbroken, and I'm reading that while I'm fine at that point.
Apple could at anytime in the future make non unlocked phones not work on that network via Straightalk
So I unlock it via redsnow. Ok, I did all this shyt for the first time bymyself, yeeeeeeah!!!!

But there is one last thing I needed to do (wanted to do)
My firmware was chillin at 4.1, and I was reading all this great stuff about how IOS 6 is great, even on 3gs
I download IOS 6 version iPhone2,1_6.0.1... do the redsnow trick to put IOS on my phone. From that point on, my phone been in recovery mode

Now I've put it in DFU mode, and tried some tricks to no avail
Just boot didn't work, I later found out that was a step I should have done during the firmware installation, but my guide didn't say that A different guide tells me this
I tried putting it on without messing with the baseband. I then put the iTunes copy I had saved, not the BBiTunes copy
Like, I'm over here fukking shyt up. I hope the damage I did is reversible?
I'm lookin at the iTunes logo and the usb
And when it goes into DFU mode, its just a blank screen that is somewhat lit (like its on)
Or I can turn it off, but I don't get the option to turn it off via slide

Finally, I'm using redsnow 0.9.15b3, should I use the older one you suggested @illadope?

But I love learning shyt like this, so I'm not furious. I would be if I needed that phone to be working RIGHT NOW.

It claims it can grab my shsh off of cydia. Via cydia server during a query it says it has my original FW on there (iTunes wouldn't let me backup even before I began trying to do this)
So I'm worried about that still. But cydia server claims it has my 4.1 and the 6.0.1 I put on my phone (I think I put on my phone)
So hopefully I can just redownload my 4.1 and then start over???
Don't know how to do that via cydia, and umbrella is currently "starting the TSS server" but that been running for about 5mins now and its still starting up

nah you're right I didnt think anything but the 4 was jailbroken and that I believe is tethered

I know it sucks to be stuck but I cant really offer any help

Now how can I "just be stock for now" is basically what I been asking for the last 24hrs
How illy, how. Cuz everything I have tried has done NOTHING
So I'm slowly trying to figure out wtf I did.
I'm missing a key.plist when redsnow tried to fix things
I read somewhere that I may have tried to jailbreak it twice.. so now both are on there. When that happens, you often then get the code that umbrella gave me which is "Error, no successful firmware download after 60000 ms!! Giving up."
None of the solutions I have seen have worked. Only one I'm leaning towards is basically what illadope is saying
I'm just not an expert on how to do it since I'm obviously in need of help right now
Like, I don't want to fukk shyt up even more na mean.
But I'll attempt to put what? I guess 6.0.1 on there?

How can I check to be sure what firmware I got on there?
I tried to put 6.0.1 on there and been in blackscreen heaven ever since
So I honestly have no idea what is really on there at this point

And the mind is blown because it was preceded by...

it no longer recognizes the phone when plugged in {itunes) but redsnow sees it as a 3gs

Now with the phone in DFU mode, I click on iTunes and my phone doesn't show up
Before, it would show up as "cleared iPhone"
Under redsnow its either 3gs in recovery mode or 3gs in DFU mode
Under umbrella its not listed... well, it now says "DFU device connected" but then it says "No shsh files to cache"
But it doesn't show up in the top left corner like it should. I'm seeing all this in the logs
Another thing I noticed under umbrella is when I try to fix recovery
It has a different ECID: when its in DFU mode compared to the ECID during recovery mode (is that a possible clue to my problem?)

Nah man tiny unbrella ain't goin find it when it's on dfu mode. Make sure it's in regular dfu mode. If your computer ain't finding it change usbs or use a different computer. Also you can only get into dfu mode while it's plugged in.

If redsnow finding it and iTunes ain't reinstall iTunes worst case scenario. Windows sometimes gets all fukked up. I know it sounds dumb but make sure you got a good cable as well

Somewhat incorrect sir. Umbrella does recognize it in DFU mode, but only for "Fix Recovery"
You HAVE TO GO INTO DFU MODE for the Fix Recovery option to even work
Otherwise you'd just hit ENTER or EXIT Recovery modes

Now I'm a little confused because you said it wouldn't find it in DFU mode, then you say to put it in DFU mode???
My PC sees the device in device manager, thats how I found out what my baseband was
iTunes doesn't see it tho. Just from this point on, what should I do from here
And when you tell me, also tell me HOW to do the next step
If its put a firmware on there first, how?
If its restore, how?
You saying don't use redsnow, but redsnow is the only app that will even let me change the firmware at this point

Uninstalling right now.. I seen that said, and just disregarded it like it couldn't be the problem. We'll see, but I doubt it'll work
My cable... that is a lil suspect too. The wire where it connects to the bottom of the phone... I can see wires n shyt
Barely, but yeah. Didn't have a problem moving files before, and its charges. Its lit up right now???
I'll check back as soon as I reinstall it...

I had a phone stuck in dfu mode and itunes wouldnt recognize it used, TinyUmbrella took it off recovery mode and itunes recognized it

I also cosign the cable part I had a restore fail until I switched cables also make sure its plugged directly into a mobo usb port

The fix recovery option does some different stuff it won't fix your problem. Get a better cable son

Use redsnow, don't use it. I've done both
Now you like its the cable. My concern with that info is I haven't even gotten to the point where I can restore. Not really
So anywayz, I just reinstalled iTunes and nothing. I put it in DFU mode before I hit finished installation, that way I could have it in DFU mode before iTunes launched
iTunes has an error trying to access the iTunes store tho??? (it was doing that anyway)

Why are you trying to connect to the iTunes store? If you have another computer you should see if that computer recognizes the iPhone. I think that cable holdin you back since its messed up.
