So wait that Pseudo streams live tv channels? HD?

Nah, it takes your media as well as some streaming services like 1channel and makes it feel like its live. You switch through the channels and movies and shows be at different points of the video. It auto categorizes whats played on preset channels based on the category of show or flick (Family, Horror, etc.). You can also customize the channels in whichever way you like.

This script for XBMC gives you the ability to define your own TV channels and watch all of
your media just as you would watch normal cable. Use the electronic program guide to see what's on, or to start watching anything you see. Setup your own list of channels by configuring the addon and opening the channel configuration utility. You will be able to select from a variety of built-in channel types, or you can select a smart playlist that you've made to be a channel.

what if i want a stream only machine? like i want something only to run XBMC + NETFLIX , dont care about addin my own media just want to use online sources , what are my options ( minus a jailbroke apple tv :pacspit: )

Note for Netflix streaming you either need a Windows based device or some other shyt Netflix officially supports due to DRM.

If you're only streaming from the net then a high-powered, dedicated XBMC machine might be a bit overkill for your needs.

I personally use an Acer Revo R3700 with OpenELEC builds of XBMC but you can use pretty much any PC from a $35 Raspberry Pi (Raspberry Pi | An ARM GNU/Linux box for $25. Take a byte!) through to dedicated behemoth, multi-core HTPC. XBMC can also be used as 'just another program' by installing it in Windows, Mac or Linux.

Depends on your needs, bruh.

So I went ahead and ordered parts to build a media pc based off this thread. I'm gonna move the WDTV Hub to the bedroom. Here's what I ended up ordering.

Intel Core i3-2120 3.3GHz

EVGA GeForce GTX 560

LIAN LI PC-Q08B Black Aluminum Mini-ITX Tower Computer Case

Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive

SILVERSTONE ST45SF 450W SFX12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

BIOSTAR TH61 ITX LGA 1155 Intel H61 HDMI USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard
G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory

COOLER MASTER Vortex Plus RR-VTPS-28PK-R1

ASUS 24X DVD Burner - Bulk 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM

I didn't bother getting a Blu Ray drive since I don't plan on using it. I'll probably end up upgrading the processor down the road though. I threw in some high end parts since I wanted to game on this thing too. I can't wait till this shyt arrives :jawalrus:

I fukked up with the motherboard purchase though. I just realized it only supports Sata 3.0 Gbps while the SSD can run at 6. Gonna cause a bottleneck there. I gotta see if they'll let me edit the order.

You really don't need to spend money on a video card if all you're going to do is watch movies. The iGPU can handle it. You also don't need a custom cooler. I've used the stock cooler on the i3-2125 and currently use it on the i5-3570k and it works fine in the HTPC.

I wanna do some gaming on it too.

So I ended up editing my order a bit. I decided to upgrade the motherboard, psu, and ram. This thing can hold up to 6 hard drives. So i'm gonna need more power to handle them. The motherboard would have been a bottleneck for my SSD, so I changed that too.

Here's what I went with

SeaSonic X750 Gold 750W PSU
ASUS P8H77-I LGA 1155 Intel H77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory

Should have all of the parts by the end of the week. This shyt should be great for media and still run most of the games I throw at it. I never tried pc gaming from my living room, so that'll take some getting used to. I'll stop back in this thread for ideas once I get this thing put together.
