Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance will be part of the pre-ceremony leaving Best Rap Song and Best Melodic Performance for the main televised event.

What this means in my estimation is that Lil Baby won Best Rap Performance for “The Bigger Picture” and of course Nas won Best Rap Album for Kings Disease. Leaving Megan Thee Stallion as the winner for Best Rap Song and Roddy Rich as the winner for Best Melodic Rap Performance. As they are the rap representation in the General Field this year AND they are performing they’ll definitely want their acceptance speeches to be televised

Variety predicts Nas will win Best Rap Album (though they’re rooting for Jay Electronica)

BEST RAP ALBUM
Nas, “King’s Disease”

It’d be lovely to think that Jay Electronica’s hugely ambitious project could win here, but those are some remote odds. Nas will likely win by default in a category that is controversially missing the biggest hip-hop albums of the year, and some of the most acclaimed too.

They also have Megan Thee Stallion for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance (though they say Lil Baby could upset in the latter category) and Da Baby & Roddy Rich’s “Rockstar” for Best Melodic Rap Performance.

OK Player predicts Nas for Best Rap Album

Best Rap Album

D Smoke — Black Habits
Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist — Alfredo
Jay Electronica — A Written Testimony
Nas — King’s Disease
Royce da 5’9″ — The Allegory

Our Prediction: Nas — King Disease

Many rap fans on the Internet consider Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist’s Alfredo last year’s album of the year. And while that album is great, I don’t think Grammys voters give a fukk about what Rap Twitter thinks. Voters will see Nas, who has 14 nominations and zero wins, and give him his Scent of a Women, career achievement Grammy.

They also predict Lil Baby for Best Rap Performance, Anderson.Paak for Best Melodic Rap Performance, and Megan Thee Stallion for Best Rap Song

State News predicts Nas for Best Rap Album and also thinks Da Baby will have a big night

As for the rap categories, I’d put my money on DaBaby. DaBaby’s “Rockstar,” featuring Roddy Ricch, is nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance and Best Rap Song, in addition to Record of the Year. While I think he’ll lose ROTY, he has a good shot at taking the rest of his nominations. He also has a Best Rap Performance nomination for “Bop.”

Lil Baby’s “The Bigger Picture” and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” remix featuring Beyoncé are also both viable candidates for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song, too.

As for Best Rap Album, I have to go with “King’s Disease” by Nas.

Who will win? Megan Thee Stallion

Can’t look past Megan for this one. WAP, the Savage remix and a debut album all in one year? It’s surely a done deal.

Who should win? Megan Thee Stallion

Need we repeat ourselves?

Who’s got an outside chance? Phoebe Bridgers

It’d be a major shock, but Bridgers had an excellent year, releasing one of 2020’s best albums with Punisher and appearing on pretty much every major US late night talk show, despite the pandemic.

I want Alfredo to win.

I’m sure Kings Disease will win.

I would be shocked if A Written Testimony won because of the content.
