Gettin' It In
"THAAAATS ENTERTAAAAINMEEENT!!"
I don't even believe what I've just seen. I need to come down.
Seeing Margot like that was so depressing. That scar is hideous. The scene with Will stringing Hannibal up, magnificently slicing his neck and then feeding to the pigs during his vision was a work of art. More artistic spilling of blood and Will bathing in it. Did Hannibal have a subtle smile? I couldn't be sure.
Mason was on one in Hannibal's office. Putting his feet on his desk and stabbing his chair not once but twice, telling him to send him the bill LOL. Hannibal's subtle reactions really made that scene. You could tell that he wanted him dead right there. Then Mason's remark about how Hannibal had no fat on him and that it would take more than a flesh wound to make him squeal was great.
Dr. Du Maurier looked like a shell of herself. Her speech about Hannibal's power of persuasion and the fact that he is never not in control was chilling. That was a powerful scene that I almost couldn't wrap my head around while viewing.
That meal he prepared for Jack was so dope even with it's obvious parallels. Did anyone else catch that Jack called him "Hannibal" instead of Dr. Lecter? I believe that is the first time that he's done so. Hannibal served them dudes up and still had enough jua de vive to deliver the line "He shouldn't have done that" before being tasered a second time.
They splendidly handled Mason cutting his own face. I had to shift in my seat a few times. Mason was gone off them psychedelics. I almost fell out when Hannibal told him to eat his nose and he said "I'm full of myself... [in the background]I'm full of my self[/in the background]" That was wild with him feeding himself to Will's dogs and Hannibal has the nerve to talk about "broadening palettes". So many great lowkey jokes.
This show man, this show.
"im full of myself"
More than one person said in the comments of last week’s review that they thought Michael Pitt was proving he’d be a great Joker after his performance on Hannibal. This episode took things even further in that regard and I’d venture to say that, essentially, Michael Pitt is playing the Joker.
