This also reminded me of a similar scene in Hannibal Rises. They've done countless references and callbacks to Silence, Red Dragon, Hannibal throughout the series. Most thought they would exclude Rises because it was so shytty and it may have been unintentional but still, they've covered all the films at some point now (not sure about Manhunter, havent seen.)
My friend thats a fan of the Manhunter film has since brought it to my attention that the way the kid in the Manbearpig suit crashes through the window in Will's house is also definitely an homage to Manhunter :wow:

What do yall think about this mid-season change in tone?

I like it even though we aren't getting jaw dropping shyt like we were the first few weeks

I'm not sure I like turning Will into a killer though, but maybe that is book shyt I don't know

I don't think we are watching Will turn into a killer, I think we are watching Will outsmart the shyt out of Hannibal. Not sure if there is a better way to reel him in.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Seems like Hanny finally got Will to go full :demonic:?

Or is Will's design chess not checkers? :lupe:

i think that's chess definitely

will isn't a killer... dude jumped through his fukking window trying to kill him.. that's nothing but self defense

now instead of calling jack and telling him what's up..... instead he takes the body to hannibal to show him... and either hannibal or him has now mounted that guy in the museum.. which should make it known to everyone that the ripper is still alive and out there

Not a huge fan of the killer of the week format...

I thought the girl in the horse episode was pretty cool but the manbearpig thing was a bit over the top/cartoony for me.

I'm blaming NBC I think sometimes it feels like the story progression, the editing and the writing to a lesser extent is dumbed down for NBCs audience. The first half of this season was much better in that regard but now were back to the same contrived format we had in the middle of season 1.

I think the show would benefit from reducing the episodes down to 10 like GoT

Last week we had a guy being sewed inside a dead horse

I really think NBC is pretty hands off in terms of content.

yea i hate the killer of the week format.. its just so unrealistic that serial killing is so commonplace in this universe and that all the serial killers are in the same town.

Lol reminds me of that argument a few pages back about whether the trial would be on CNN or not.

While the format is a little dry, the execution has still been good. I enjoyed this weeks guy, maybe would have been nice to get more expansion on his character though, like the other guy that helped will and almost killed hanny a few episodes earlier.

There's no way to write out the "killer of the week" format in a series about Hannibal. Him helping Will Graham and Jack Crawford catch serial killers was in the OG novels, it's what he does.
