Because crochet does have a tendency to cause broken hair once the tightness you get from crochet begins to wear off the broken hairs become more visible as frizz and loose hairs. This means that crocheting begets crocheting and it's probably not wise to start doing it unless you plan on doing it regularly and relatively often. You can stop, of course, anytime you want but you may have to deal with a lot of frizz before your dreads start to lock up naturally again. TOO much crocheting, especially if done incorrectly, can actually break dreads so badly that you will seriously compromise the strength of the entire dread.

My official opinion on crochet at this point is that crocheting is okay IN MODERATION! I wouldn't recommend crocheting any more frequently than once a month. More than that and I think you seriously need to worry about the breakage you may be causing.

Ok cuz I recently moved to a area and I don't have anyone to retwist my dreads, I found a shop and the lady doesn't retwist she crochets, she did it Monday and it looks nice just wanted to know if it was a good or bad thing.

And yeah i wasn't gonna get it done multiple times a month, prob every other minth or something like that.

@KnowledgeIsQueen , how is your hair always sooo perfect?!?!? :noah:

Teach me your ways.....

Awwwww thanks!

I attribute my hair today, to having short hair for 12+ years.

Before I went natural, I had 10 curling irons & would wake up every morning to style it. Having to do may hair (refused to get it done at a salon due to their overuse of hairspray) taught me patience. LAWD know's being natural can be time consuming ;)

Seems like the only thing that works is doing a wash n go every few days. I keep a stock of avocado, almond, and coconut oil for my hair as well as cantu leave in conditioner.

Texas heat is making it a bish to keep me and my daughter's hair moisturized:sadcam:

I know what you mean...due to heat and laziness I've been wearing a lot of wash n gos. Luckily I've actually mastered having it last from Sunday to Sunday with just spritzing and not having to redo it every few days. That's the only upside.
