$5 million?

That's all it takes? :what:
When I heard "bribes", I was expecting at least 10 times that amount.

That's one of the most annoying things about the bid farce. Execs and votes were bought off for peanuts in the grand scheme of things.

We should start a kickstarter for bribe money to get the world cup moved to the USA for 2022. With the amounts shifting hands and the large pool of soccer fans in the US we should be able to raise the requisite funds to turn their head, and what's it to them, it's all just money in the first place.

A $5 donation gets you a certificate stating that you have successfully bribed a FIFA official.

A $100 donation gets your name embossed on a thank you card that will be sent to the various African football associations thanking them for accepting the bribe money and securing their votes.

A $2500 donation and we will provide you with a trench coat, fedora, manilla envelopes along with instructions and directions to a deserted car park in Altstadt where you will hand over your bribe money to a faceless committee member yourself!

A $10,000 donation permits you free reign in crafting a message to be parceled along with the actual wire of bribe funds to be sent to a FIFA exec or shady African/Arab of your choice.

A 1M dollar donation and you will be able to shadow the FIFA exec of your choice at the beautiful FIFA headquarters in Zurich along with a two hour plunge pool meeting with the grand nabob himself Sepp Blatter where you will feast on the finest fruits and wines known to mankind along with a cocaine smoothie to round out the meal.

Let's get cracking brehs.

Joker Lee Nelson poses as England star before airport security notice and chuck him out

COMEDIAN Lee Nelson has been snapped trying to a get free flight to the World Cup with the England boys before being escorted away by transport police.

The funny man was standing pretty casually in his suit with Roy Hodgson's team as they were waiting in the private hanger at Luton Airport before being spotted by security.

Lee, real name Simon Brodkin, was reportedly trying to pass himself off as alter-ego footballer Jason Bent, a character from his BBC Three series Lee Nelson's Well Funny People.

It's not the first time he has tried it after managing to warm-up at Goodison Park with the Manchester City players before their match with Everton last year.

But his presence alerted a few players and he was escorted away by stewards before being arrested

This time around, baffled England stars stare at the wannabe footballer as he waves his passport in the faces of security officials.

Unknown to a few of the players, who are on their way to Miami for two pre-World Cup friendlies, it seems they were getting pretty annoyed by his cheek.

But the likes of Jack Wilshere and Adam Lallana were spotted having a little giggle as he was taken away.

He is currently said to be detained at the airport.

The boys will face Ecuador on Wednesday and then Honduras on Saturday before their big World Cup opener against Italy next Saturday.

Just need the other shoe to drop. We always knew FIFA was crooked, some of those fukkers on the Qatar bid committee need to be exposed.

They're placidly carrying on, denying all malfeasance, just a thorny PR issue for them at the moment.

Someone needs to start talking, or at least, needs to start asking the right fukking questions

they dont need to be abolished, but their importance needs to be lowered

I think the World Cup will be moved, but global competitions will get bigger and bigger, imo.

Global competitions will never be abolished. Too much $$$ involved.

Alot of four year football fans about to emerge and tell me how great of a player Messi is. Can't wait for him to score 0 goals again and prove them all wrong.

The problem is not the world cup itself. The problem is giving the world cup to countries that don't have the infrastructure to support it.

there's no way to lower importance without just not holding them anymore. as long as they exist, people will take them way too seriously and politicians will use them to funnel cash into their own pockets

and they can be abolished if cities around the world just decide to not bid for them. FIFA and the IOC only have power as long as their product is valued. if nobody wants it, they're groups of men in suits unwelcome everywhere

I really don't see what's so significant about the Sunday Times piece? We already knew Qatar bribed their way into the win. FIFA's actually playing along with this because this suits Blatter's agenda. Bin Hammam was the biggest threat to his throne. Not a coincidence he's been so open about how awarding Qatar the WC was a mistake. People seem to be confused about FIFA politics and think Blatter supports the bid when he doesn't at all. It entrenches him to seem like the reformer who outed the rot in a WC that's spiraling outta control.
