So you should then hate Alonso, who benefitted from the most atrocious act of team orders. I mean, it was downright match-fixing.@Don Rhymus,
I'm not a F1 expert, but I don't like F1 teams and the leader/follower stuff. I hated what Ferrari did to Barrichello (but I was for Mc Laren back then so) so my position is always the same on this matter.
I don't like Alonso either but only because he's spanishSo you should then hate Alonso, who benefitted from the most atrocious act of team orders. I mean, it was downright match-fixing.
Red Bull repeatedly tried to get Webber and Vettel to not battle each other on the track.
Both of them ignored the orders over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
Hate to break it to you, but the concept of Webber being an obedient teammate is the farthest from the truth and a result of lazy journalism. Vettel is a German that wins therefore he is Schumacher. Webber is his teammate that doesn't win, therefor he is Rubens.
The truth is it was a fair matchup that was dictated entirely by Vettel maturing beyond 2010 when it was close (and btw Red Bull let them both fight for the title to the end even when the smart option would have been to tell Vettel to drive in support of Webber, like Ferrari always does) becoming a much better driver than Webber. Most of it a result of his driving style which over the last 3-4 years he tinkered with and evolved beautifully to make the most of the exhaust-blown diffusers.
He developed a fukking uncanny ability of timing when he applies the throttle during corner exit causing the exhaust gasses to flow through the diffuser at the right time to maximize downforce and minimize wheelspin. The tires were the big fuss these past few years. He was straddling the thin line between Jensen Button's buttery smooth, easy on tires on often low on pace driving and Lewis' hyper aggressive, oversteery style and completely destroying the field with it. Often times when you look at photos of him in corners versus other drivers, you'll see the other drivers eyes focused on the apex of the corner....whereas Vettel is looking in the opposite direction mid-corner, already sizing up the next apex he's about to hit while in one already
Webbers KERS issues? Pretty simple, really. The system was constantly overheating. Adrian Newey cars historically have a problem with overheating. His designs are very tight and aerodynamic, he always sacrifices cooling. Why? Because if the car is in front it won't be in dirty air, and thus the car being faster cancels out the potential cooling issues as out front it'll have the cool air and be fine. The big problem with Webber? Without traction control he could not start a car to save his life. Every. Single. Race. Doesn't matter if he started on the front row, by the first corner he would be 3rd-5th. It was the most crippling thing any driver was doing for years. He just couldn't start. He lost more positions at the start than any driver on the roster. His good starts were few and far between and when he did have one he had a totally different race.@Don Rhymus you going to forget that webbers KERS had 'problems' nearly every race
and when has webber ever been more than a average driver
your shytting on button but not webber?
Of course, but we're talking AT apex. Not leaving it, not even entering it, but at apex in a side-by-side when other drivers where still focusing on hitting their point, mentally he'd already moved on.I
About the eyes looking further, that's what piloting is. Rally pilots do that too. Myself, I have a motorcycle licence and in order to get that you need to build the capacity to watch further than where you are otherwise you're going straight to the curbs.
