Yo was there even one good quarterfinal game?
It was simply an example to show there isn’t a huge drop off between current WC teams and those potentially added to the mix. Hyperbole to argue that likes of Sweden,Colombia, Peru, Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, CIV, Mali, Chile are terrible teams or would embarrass themselves in an expanded format. That’s 9 teams named right there. I don’t really care about the additional Euro spots, but I am generally in favour of more cross federational matches that matter. We very rarely ever see it outside of the World Cup and my take is that it won’t turn out as bad as predicted in 2026. We’ll see.Seeing how Denmark was atrocious and finished last in their group, why would you want more of that? And Denmark actually has talent in their squad unlike Eastern European and Baltic countries. These 3rd tier UEFA teams are terrible, at most they have one star player and then don't come close to filling the rest of their team with players that get regular burn in top five leagues.
You're always going to have a couple of big teams like Italy/Nigeria have an off year and miss out on the tournament but making sure they get in doesn't justify having 14 more terrible teams.
Somalia is in the Horn of AfricaWhere’s Somalia ?
And some people want to have a whole group stage with groups of 4 teams again Nah, groups of 3 is good then let's get straight to knocking fools out.
this will dilute the tournamentSaw this in another forum, who the additional 16 teams would have been if we had a 48 team World Cup this year based on qualifying results.
The drop-off doesn't seem that huge to me, aside from possibly AFC and CONCACAF. I want to see this
UEFA: Ukraine, Sweden, North Macedonia
CONMEBOL: Peru, Colombia
CAF: Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, Mali
AFC: UAE, Oman
CONCACAF: Panama, Jamaica
OFC: New Zealand
Two of: Chile, DR Congo, Iraq, El Salvador, Honduras, Solomon Islands
I understand your thought process but I just disagree. I think that, using UEFA as an example, there is already a big drop off from A-tier to B-tier teams, so adding more B-tier teams (which were not good enough to qualify with current rules) would bring nothing of value to the World Cup.It was simply an example to show there isn’t a huge drop off between current WC teams and those potentially added to the mix. It's true that situation is different in CAF qualifying, so I would rather look to create an inter-conference playoff for CAF vs. UEFA teams rather than expanding WC so we have to watch Teemu Pukki and 10 scrubs park the bus for 90 minutes.
Fair enough, good points overall, and would be fully behind your inter conference suggestion. Fait accompli at this stage though so we will see how it goesI understand your thought process but I just disagree. Just look at some of these teams in Europe that missed out: Scotland, Turkey, Macedonia, Ukraine, Albania. EURO group stages are usually snooze fests with a lot team lacking quality and opting to play defensively. CONCACAF and AFC are even worse.

He beat them up allegedly.Ronaldo got caught with THREE of them back in Brazil and we don't talk about that either. You see him at games and after games interviewing his countrymen like nothing ever happened.
