When you really look at it, to win the WC, you really only need to win 1 game outright. The WC is really a competition in 3 stages. Qualifying, the group stage of the finals, and then the KO stage of the tournament.

You generally need 5 pts to come out of the group. 1 win and 2 draws. And once you get to the KOs, you can go from R16, QFs, SFs and Finals "winning" on PKs while drawing in actual time 0-0s
