Let's also consider perspective. In the final, the big boss is still Brazil. Beating Brazil is always an accomplishment in itself. So the general level of competition is lower, but the team you meet in the final is as good as any team in the world.

Also playing games in South America is much harder than playing games in Europe. The climate, fans, fields, infrastructure of stadiums and countless other things add to it not being easy.
