Southgate really said he couldn’t find a replacement for Kalvin Phillips 😂

Yeah, super clown behavior.

Just bench Trent, play Jude there. Move Foden in the middle, put Gordon left and pray he finds space to run into.

England have never ever ever fielded a team in the past 25 years where I said "yup, thats the best, most balanced XI they got, they'll do well." It's always some fukkery. Whether its shoe horning Lampard with all or nothing(mostly nothing) ball Gerrard, Heskey being in the side, John Terry past his prime, the reliance on Harry Maguire.... They never seem to get it right. The Trippier at left back experiment has run it's course, but we still get that plus Jude at 10 and Trent at 8. Big Sam was gonna save them, but they want success on their terms.

Nico Williams getting his props across social media terrific performance, great example of what a modern winger should be:myman:Can cut in and shoot, great movement, can stay wide and whip balls in with his left. Spain looked really balanced from back to front, they never get in each others way the midfield of Rodri, Ruiz and Pedri perfectly compliment each other. They just need better finishing.

Thinking about if carefully, England might have to sacrifice Foden for the better of the team..... Rice isn't good enough on the half turn to receive the ball from defence but he's great at anticipating danger. They need to either play Wharton or Mainoo in front of the defence, with Rice and Bellingham as box to box 8's, Saka on the right and Gordon on the left. Kane or Watkins upfront. Not having a left footed left back and Foden drifting to the middle makes the pitch congested. When Trippier gets the ball he's isolated and cuts in on his right and it's all a bit too predictable.

Watching Spain today was night and day from England.

Pedri plays the 10 and stays very close to Morata, so the focal point of the team always has an option, when an Italy attrack broke down Pedri had so much space to drift into, the centre backs are occupied with Morata who doesn't drop deep like Harry Kane.

Ruiz is a technically gifted box to box player, a unique player he can win the ball, link defence and attack and is very pressure resistant on the half turn, Italy in the second half basically gave up on pressing him, this takes so much pressure off the rest of the team. Rodri best in the world at what he does protecting the defence and progressing the play, two footed as well which make his passing angles hard to read.

Two very different wingers in Williams and Yamal. Yamal can stay wide but prefers to cut in and link up the play and can just glide past players in the middle of the pitch as if they aren't there. Williams is more of an old school winger a throwback, keeps the pitch wide and the defence on the back foot. Spain created about 7 or 8 clearcut chances from different patterns of play.

It's important to have technically proficient players in defence and midfield who can keep the ball under pressure and forwards who are different from each other and hard to read.

It's always something with England. Spain usually picks their best, even the racismo didn't stop them from picking Senna who helped win them a euros. Look at the team Spain played today, if Nico Williams was english and played for Palace, Everton etc he's never starting.

It's not all Southgate's fault.. alot of BS goes on within the FA and English media. It's why no pundit has ever really went in on Harry Maguire or Harry Kane, cease and desist letters get sent for them tings.

"We don't have a natural replacement for a Kalvin Phillips":stopitslime:This is a manager out of ideas and not confident in his players. Wharton or Mainoo should be starting the next game. The issue with Trent Alexander is he is excellent at one thing, long range passing but you can;t live off that in a tournament, you need to actually control a game.
