To be fair Petion was dangerous to the new state. Petion supported the Mulatto population and that is dangerous to the "black state' Christophe and Dessalines was trying to form. If anything give him power and it just might end up being that plantation politics where the mulatto rule the black majority:camby:

yeah. The North vs WEst (Cap vs P-au-P) beef still going strong. Sometimes I have to remiond those mulattos Henry crushed Petion and checkmated his ass. Henry built a fortress and was looking towards history and Haiti as a nation in the future which is why he lived by "si vis pacem, para bellum" :youngsabo: Petion had a bunchof mulattos following him and some even gained power and became prez like Salnave and others, but they always saw profit first and believed they could go anywhere and be free since they were mixed. If I become a millionaire today, tomorrow I will invest in Haiti history TV show. :wow:

Our history is so deep and full of gems and politics that it takes you years to even understand what was going on.

Also, @Raul the reason we shytted on the Dominicans back then was because they alledgedly tried to help the French infiltrate through the North side of Haiti. I don't know how true, but I have heard it

Do you have information on Haitians raiding American slave ships? Because I heard about that, but my sources on that subject is limited. I;m about to post about sources about Haiti making all slaves throughout the Americas free citizens in Haiti.

nah, but I heard that they welcomed slaves from neighbooring countries and slaves fleed plantations in hope of making it to Haiti to become free men :blessed:

Interesting. I don't know much about the details of the conflict. I'll admit that. I'm Dominican but born and raised in the States and I was never really "brainwashed" (maybe that's the wrong word) while growing up to hate Haitians. It's just unfortunate that the hostility persists down there. For a while over the last 4-5 years my uncle's neighbors were this Haitian family. Very nice people just trying to earn a living. Most Haitians in the DR are just trying to live.

"But this is not all that the Haitians did for the sacred cause of Humanity: the breath of God was on them. When the immortal Bolívar, vanquished and a fugitive, after the failure of his first effort, was seeking a place of refuge as well as help, it was in Haiti that he found both. The leader of the second American Republic, the chief of the Black people, in supplying Simón Bolívar with men and money, allowed him to resume the struggle, and to become later on the glorious liberator of the United States of Venezuela. This fact is but little known, although it has not been forgotten by the Venezuelans who have erected in a public place of Caracas, among their national heroes, a statue of Alexandre Pétion, President of Haiti."

Mons M. Charles Moravia, “Haiti — Past and Present,”

Simón Bolívar, Venezuela and Haiti

don't forget that the support was on condition that Bolivar outlaw slavery in New Granada
