Just read through this whole thread. I always tell people I talk to whenever Haiti is brought up about early haitian history starting from 1804~present.

A LOT of folks don't know what the fukk is going on or happened. They just see Haiti's condition and think it's just simply because Haitians are incompetent and unable to govern themselves and NEED US intervention. I heard someone say once they should just let the US take Haiti, I wanted to roll my eyes to the back of my skull. Can't believe some of the comments I've heard coming out of the mouths of some Haitians. it's even worse when you got DR next door seemingly looking better overall and full of other people :mjpls:

I'm referring to all the posts that were on the coli way back along with the youtube vids of black people saying, and i quote: "africans didnt send a single boat to come get us when we were slaves. Caribbeans didnt lift a finger to help us..." So on and so forth.

I'll try to look up the thread and the youtube vids if i have time. This was a few years ago

I'm aware of those views. Has more to do with people being ignorant of history .

We demolish most of the myths that youtubers feed their gullible audiences. When people get tired of being proven wrong, they make a comment or request that the thread be locked or bushed.

There's a guy I have on ignore here who claims to be Ayisyen. He said some unfounded stuff years ago, I showed him old Hacotrans/C.A.M./Western Union receipts to indicate that he was repeating nonsense. Instead of owning up to being wrong, he doubled down on the stuff he was saying.

Lot of deluded people here, who think they know a lot more than they do. When confronted with the truth, they invariably run like bytches.

Thank God I am close friends with and hang out with enough African Americans to understand that some of the dumb stuff that I read on the coli is not necessarily widespread popular opinions among african Americans. Not even close. Thus why Buti said SOME.

I am just saying that there are a few clowns out there who think that way. One of them is a friend of mine. AA dude from DC I used to hang with. We still cool (same friends circle) but I just don't fukk with him like that anymore. Anyway, One day me and a group of friends were talking about something and the topic of slavery came up somebody brought up the fact that many slaves from modern day DR and other neighboring islands escaped and ran to Haiti to be free and they were welcomed with open arms. Also brought up the topic of Haiti sending troops to help Bolivar free modern day Bolivia and other South-American countries. At which point my friend turned to me and said and I quote "so how come yall didn't come for us too?". Said it in a joking manner but knowing him he was serious.

See, I don't believe people are that unique. What one thinks is likely the same mindset that exists among at least a few others in their circle.

That's all I was saying by my post:manny:

Some African-Americans love to say that no other blacks looked out/cared for them. :yeshrug:
I'm borrowing this. :ehh:

I made a reference in my last post about reasons for putting people on ignore.

I logged out and read the past few posts to see what / who you two were responding to.
Logged out, you can see every post
The social media post you responded to is FALSE.

The first red flag is the $40 USD price. In the time the letter was written (1804) the price for enslaved adult in the US was way more than 40 dollars.

Dessalines was putting up that money to secure passage for Haitian Blacks and gens de couleur who were stranded in America, to return back.
The enslaved were taken there by whites fleeing the Revolution. Some of the mulattoes enslaved and free had fled or been taken there for the same reasons
The words of the decree spell it out if you read it again.

Haitian leaders made a lot of overtures to other groups of Blacks since independence, but this was not one of them.
