Shaw region?

Probably one of the best spots in DC from what I've seen. Right next to Howard U so a lot of black people in the area (them HU chicks be :ohlawd:).

Really close to U-Street so good nightlife. Pretty vibrant scene. Not as "sterilized" as the rest of DC tbh.

That zipcode is pretty big. Geographically, northern portion of the zipcode is near Howard U, the southern end of it is closer to Downtown. I'd probably say you'd probably want to be at the northern end of it.

I love that whole zip code area. Quite possibly the most quintessentially urban area in DC with the activity to match. Never a dull moment around there. Shaw is one of my most favorite neighborhoods in the city if not my most fav. My uncle lives in that area too. That 7th St. area can get kinda hood tho so try to take some caution, especially by the 7-Eleven.

Speaking of Shaw, S/O to one of the GOAT West African restaurants in the whole DMV, Sumah’s :blessed:

Was there like 2 years back with my mans. Very unpretentious spot.

Very rich and hearty food.

Don’t go there on a cut though. That place is like once in a blue moon. Kinda like “Oohs and Aahs”

If it’s like Oohs and Aahs, my ass will definitely be stuck lol :pachaha:

Sounds real good tho, how are the pancakes, french toast, and waffles?

I’ve always wondered what brehs from the South who have moved or visited the DMV feel about the area’s Soul Food offerings and if it’s up to par with the Soul Food back in their hometowns.

Don’t HU kids use Ben Banneker Rec Center across the street?

Also, @PAWG connoisseur you should hit up Sankofa and Children of the Sun as well. Both are Black-owned bookstores that have been on Georgia Ave for years and they’re up the street from each other. It be some nice ass looking sistas in Sankofa too :whoo: Also, one of the brehs work there too. Dap him up for me if you see him :myman:
Can confirm those book stores and check out busboys and poet it’s a dope place
