).Really close to U-Street so good nightlife. Pretty vibrant scene. Not as "sterilized" as the rest of DC tbh.
That zipcode is pretty big. Geographically, northern portion of the zipcode is near Howard U, the southern end of it is closer to Downtown. I'd probably say you'd probably want to be at the northern end of it.

I found some apartments i like near Mt. Vernon Triangle/Downtown so what’s that area like? Tell me more about HU and U Street.
DC has to be one of my fave cities based on mass transit alone.
Downtown is pretty good as well. It's a little more clean-cut than the U-Street area. I think that’s because downtown has a lot of the white collar offices (lobbyists, Law firms, finance firms etc) and the nightlife that caters to that crowd accordingly.
U-Street is far more mixed as far as nightlife is concerned, also has a much younger crowd. U-Street/14th St corridor is one of the main nightlife spots in DC (others include Adam's Morgan, G'Town, H-Street, Downtown, DuPont Circle, Brentwood etc).
I think for day to day interactions, Shaw will be more diverse for you, depending on your age (23-28ish), you may also prefer the younger crowd because of HU close by.

It’s a really good area, good bars, hookah lounges, clubs, food is okay with some of the best traditional black spots like oohs and uhhs, uncle bens chili, and the new po boy him location. Every Thursday through Sunday it’s pretty vibrant with black people and white spots as well. HU students are cool I wish they had an open recreation. That’s been the worst thing about moving here for me, my school in Cleveland was downtown and had recreation center open to the public with open gym basketball everyday, I’ve yet to find a good run and I’ve been here since last July.

Also, @PAWG connoisseur you should hit up Sankofa and Children of the Sun as well. Both are Black-owned bookstores that have been on Georgia Ave for years and they’re up the street from each other. It be some nice ass looking sistas in Sankofa too
Also, one of the brehs work there too. Dap him up for me if you see him
