I thought NW was a safe area

First joint is by Columbia Heights - and transplants call it sketchy. They closed that CVS cause it kept getting ripped off.

Second joint is by what the transplants call "Petworth" - but everyone else knows as Georgia Ave.

They not really hitting NE or SE #'s, but the only place I'd floss my non-existent jewels is in the Palisades. And even then....

DC has a race problem and a class problem and a mountain of other problems that the wrong type of white people want to point out, the "right type of white people" like to pretend doesn't exist, and the black natives shrug their shoulders and say "city life..if you want to live in the burbs go to NOVA"...as the type tough from Silver Spring...

NW is big and has mostly gentrified but there’s still plenty of spots and crime, just not as much as NE and SE.

Petworth is north of Howard; it’s boundaries vary but Georgia Ave and Upshur St are the main commercial strips

Silver spring is safe. White people consider it dangerous because it’s diverse and there’s property / petty crime in downtown because it’s a highly trafficked area

1)Silver Spring is "safer" than most of DC proper. Ask Dave Chappelle. (It's not nearly as safe as the average Houston/Dallas/San Antonio/Austin Suburb. It's not as safe as 95% of Lower Manhattan) Trouble comes to those who look for it.

2) Georgia Ave is about 3 metro stops north of Howard. It's "close by car" (about a mile), but not actually close imo. (20 minute walk?).

I'm sure if you did a crime heat map those areas would be warm to hot, with NE DC, SE DC, and good chunks of Maryland being red hot.

Again, if you're a young black male, say 13-35 - no place is really "safe" for you in this area.

And if you're past that, you prolly got a girl, wife, family to worry about. So you're not really on chill mode either.

At no point can you really just relax like you would on vacation.

Look at Shaw…there’s hella blocks I would not live in yet cacs there live in million dollar condos there

That shyt happened up the road from my job, so many cop cars were flying up Georgia you could tell something was going on. The Ave been hot and Petworth is prolly the Metro Station with the highest crime. It’s the closest Metro stop for the whole Uptown south of Piney Branch so that’s a lot of neighborhoods converging in one spot.

Of all the spots in the city, my head is definitely on a swivel at Petworth you could easily get robbed up there. I don’t live or work around there tho so I avoid the fukkery.

2. Giant - this Giant is way nicer than mine
3. Walk back to the station - crackhead just sort of ambling..
4. Moorish Scientist?/Hebrew Israelite/Majority Purchase of large speaker units...

I see restaurants they're always talking about... but then I see the rest of the neighborhood...

The area near the metro on Shaw is one of the worst blocks in the city IMO

My area is safe and my wife and I are very comfortable here. Yeah there’s some drug activity (there’s were some big arrests in the last couple years that have helped suppress this ) but if you not involved with that then the worse thing about my neighborhood is the litter, constant construction, and noise.

Petworth and the neighborhoods north of it are generally safe, mostly family oriented, and genuinely diverse. We’re close to downtown silver spring as well which is a plus

There’s deals to be found up here (especially on rent) and we need some more brehs up here

Brightwood is actually a great neighborhood. That little pocket between Missouri Ave and Silver Spring is real chill.

Yep, you got middle and upper middle class folks, white gentrifiers and government workers, black American families who own their homes , African, Caribbean, Latino immigrants, etc.

Takes me like 30 min to drive to work and 10-15 min to get to DT SS/PG mall
