See I always chafe at that. I’ve seen rappers get in trouble that way. So it always makes me get nervous when we talk about directors or writers doing that too.
Although I understand exactly what you’re saying, I think once you start down that path, you set yourself up for failure
I usually don't think directors should give a damn about audiences when it comes to their vision for a project but with these comic book movies they are populist entertainment which means they have to, at their core, be something that the masses accept.
So there is a tightrope that directors have to walk with these types of movies more so than when they are making some other genre and try to hit a sweet spot of their vision combined with something that caters to this type of audience.
