SOUTH DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Homicide detectives in Dallas are investigating after a 14-year-old was fatally shot in the 2900 block of Al Lipscomb Way.

It happened in Fair Park on Sept. 25. Officers found Manual Edwards in a vacant field with multiple gunshot wounds.

Dallas Fire-Rescue took the victim to a local hospital, where he died.

His mother Cynthia told CBS 11 News, "We need to stop this violence, put these guns down, this don't make no sense, I didn't let my baby play with guns, now he gets killed by a gun."

She found out her son was shot after two other teens told her.

An alleged brothel in a Plano residential neighborhood led to the arrests of two women, KXAS-TV (NBC5) reported.

The arrests happened in a short-term rental home near Custer and Parker roads, according to the report.

Some residents are asking the city to crack down on the short-term rental properties. The matter is expected to be discussed during next month’s Plano City Council meeting, the station said.

“Everybody is in shock,” resident Judy Lombardi told NBC5. “How this could happen right across the street?”

The quiet residential neighborhood reportedly has homes with children right next to the short-term rental property.

Dallas Police began investigating the alleged operation n July after they received tips about a sex trafficking ring operating in North Dallas, according to the report.

Dallas Police’s Special Investigations Division later found the ring operating at the house in Plano on Las Palmas Lane.

Last week, in a search warrant executed by Plano and Dallas police, Brandy Cliff, 41, was arrested on a charge of aggravated promotion of prostitution, NBC5 reported. A 22-year-old woman was also arrested on an assault warrant from Hays County. Her name was not immediately known.

Weatherford preteen charged after shooting her father and then herself, police say

A 12-year-old North Texas girl was charged with criminal conspiracy after police found her and her father with gunshot wounds last week.
Both survived after being flown to local hospitals and treated for their injuries, according to a Parker County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Officers responded to a home in northwest Parker County around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and found the 12-year-old lying on the street with “what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head” and a handgun beneath her, the release said.
Her 38-year-old father was inside the home with a gunshot wound in his abdomen.

Investigators believe the girl shot her father before leaving the scene and shooting herself, the release said.

Police later learned the girl had been planning to kill her family and pets for several weeks, the release said. She was also allegedly talking with another juvenile female who lives in Lufkin about her plans.

The Lufkin girl also discussed killing her father “but did not go through with the plan,” the release said.

The girls talked about going to Georgia together after the planned killings, according to police.

The Sheriff’s Office does not identify juvenile suspects and is not releasing the names of the adults in this case in an effort to further protect the minors’ identities.
The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Lufkin Police Department.

A University of Texas employee was arrested over the weekend in connection to an incident that happened at a football game last month.

It all allegedly went down on September 17 as the Longhorns hosted UTSA at Darrell K Royal - Texas Memorial Stadium, according to MySanAntonio. This is one of two alleged incidents to occur at the UTSA game.

A male UT employee allegedly entered the stadium and bypassed security using expired press credentials to get sideline access during the game. The employee reportedly grabbed or touched the buttocks of two female Longhorn Band members. The incident was reported to campus police, but the suspect wasn't arrested until October 1, when the Longhorns hosted West Virginia. Authorities recognized the suspect from the UTSA game, where he was reportedly dressed in a UT Housing and Dining shirt, which is where he's employed. The man didn't have a ticket for the game for a second time. Police believe the man used his work uniform to get access into the stadium, despite employees of this department not having access to the stadium.

The suspect was charged with criminal trespass.

Another alleged incident took place during the same game on September 17. A man was arrested by campus police for attempting to enter the pen of Bevo, the university's live mascot, a Longhorn steer, near the stadium's south endzone.

Damn, sad to hear Tiffany Jackson passed away today.

I didn't even know that she had breast cancer.

I always wish she wouldn't have left Lincoln her Senior and transferred to Duncanville.

And Lincoln ended up winning state that season without her and Duncanville lost in the final game.

McKINNEY, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) -- A 25-year-old Plano man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of Steven Gambles last summer.

In a release sent out Wednesday, Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said on July 7, 2021, Gambles was meeting a friend for dinner at the Shops at Legacy when 25-year-old Jordan Jacobs passed him outside.

Jordan Jacobs
Jordan Jacobs COLLIN COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE
Willis said Jacobs told his girlfriend that Gambles had "been looking at her and so he was going to go rob him as a consequence." He then reportedly went back to his apartment and changed into a long sleeve security jacket, dark pants, and a mask.

Jacobs spent the next two hours waiting for Gambles to return to his car so he could rob him, the release stated.

While he was waiting, surveillance footage showed Jacobs entering Gambles' car and stealing a firearm from his console. When Gambles returned to his car, Jacobs confronted him, pointed the firearm at his head and then shot him in the temple after he "wouldn't cooperate," the release said.

Through surveillance footage, Plano Police Department Detective Aaron Benzick was able to track down Jacobs to his nearby apartment and identify him as the shooter.

Officials said Jacobs was not associated with the Shops at Legacy security nor was he employed as a security guard with any company.
