I’ve seen Ryan Davis perform live and I’ve seen Corey Holcomb perform live.

:francis:

Both men are funny, but when you think about the amount of thought and planning it takes to purposely start the joke with something half the audience will disagree with, only to take them through the logical steps of why his perspective isn’t as crazy as it first sounded, you realize Ryan is a different level of comedian and operating on a higher level of intelligence. In that interview alone you can hear he’s more emotionally intelligent than Corey.

I’ve been a long time listener of Corey’s and what did Ryan say in that Sway interview that was wrong?

Corey will continue to be angry that his level of financial success doesn’t quite match up to how he’s publicly perceived. Hollywood and entertainment are filled with grimy dirt balls that will stab you in the back and smile in your face, however, it’s still a very corporate structure and if you can’t play the game the way they want you to play it, you won’t be welcomed. Corey fails to accept that he’s the reason he’s where he is.
That style of comedy isn't difficult if you graduated high school to be fair. it's observational analytical comedy which is formulaic. hence why white folks love it so much it's like dry humour it's achievable for corey if he sat down and wrote frfr. breh is just content and lazy that's why he ain't further in his craft he could literally start writing those type of sets just to perform in white venues to build a wider audience but he's content and never going to progress past the chitterling circuits. dude is funny but a bit childish in some ways. his big boy interview was funny as hell and logical/observational so he has the transferrable skills but he picks and chooses to use it only in industry interviews imho...

The Ryan Davis show I went to was mostly a black audience and everyone was laughing.

Corey gets laughs too, but it’s not because he put a lot of thought into his material, it’s more so because he says what other people think, but don’t typically say because they don’t want to offend people.

I don’t know about being able to do what Ryan does if you simply have a high school diploma. It takes more than that. What he does is more like structuring a debate or pointing out logical fallacies. That takes time to do. Definitely not a get up there and wing it type of style.

He’s not doing better than most comedians and that’s partly why he’s so disgruntled. Corey can’t get paid from YouTube ads because of the nature of his content, he has no social media for monetize, and Hollywood won’t really fukk with him. All Corey has is show money but these new comedians that aren’t even funny like “b Simone” and make more money than Corey from Instagram advertisements alone.

When the pandemic happened and shut down the comedy clubs, Corey was struggling.
Oh he doing wayyyy better then most comedians...he always stays booked and said recently he turned down a 200k for a tour on his show....he got a loyal big fan base.....he easily doing 100k views every week on his channel while other comedians struggling to get to 5k.

Corey said he turned down 140k for 4 shows (35k a show)

I'm not mad at that, only because I know once Corey name appears on the ticket, folks are going to pay that price 80 dollars a pop to go and see him, they are going to see him just because it's him

He's doing clubs and I can believe he's getting between 20k-30k a weekend, not trying to count his money or anything.

I believe you can give Corey 185k-200k for 5 dates on your tour if you are the promoter. He's going to put ppl in the seats and he's going to give a great show. Ppl fukks with Corey believe or not.

He’s not getting paid for those views though. His YouTube isn’t monetized. I don’t believe anything that Corey says tbh. Trust me I just paid for 5 of my friends to see Corey when he came to bmore but he’s a habitual liar.

If he was really getting money like that he wouldn’t be stuggling to get equipment for his podcast or doing his podcast in storage containers. He stays booked but he’s doing small venues and he only works weekends. On a show a couple weeks back he was asking for a hookup on plane tickets because the flights were to expensive.

Corey is stuck doing the comedy stand up circuit which for a comedian as talented and as long as he’s been in the game, he should be passed that by now. He should be selling out arenas and at least have his own show. Kountry wayne is a millionaire off of social media skits that he produces himself. That’s why this whole issue with Ryan started because Ryan was talking about the numbers.

But his channel is not monetized.

And he's missing a big bag but I respect it. He's no conforming. If he had an app like them 85 South boys I'd support no cap.

He just re-upped on some classic 5150 shirts and I need to support. I need that "The way your lady looks dictates how much you are worth" 🤣

:patrice: looking at Ryan's comment on this post and the way yall said homeboy arguing in the yt comments.... Corey might be on to something

And that’s why Corey will never advance in the industry. He’s making his money and that’s cool, but what does someone’s sexuality have to do with their talent? If Ryan is gay, then what? Is he less funny or more funny due to that?

Corey stays stuck on what other people do in their private lives. That is what killed his relationship with Zo and Grady. Who cares what they do, have or don’t have or what exact zip code they came from? If that’s your friend, judge him based on his interactions with you, how he treats his family and whether or not he keeps his word.

All that other stuff is high school level chit chat that doesn’t mean shyt to anyone. It’s gossip. And for a straight man, gossiping is “on the fruit booty side of the game” as Corey would say.

Comedians like Dave chapelle, Kevin hart, Chris rock, earthquake could all sell out arenas and that’s the level I put Corey Holcomb on talent wise.

Corey isn’t doing 3000 seat venues. For instance he’s in Philly and Atlanta the next two weekends. These are 300 and 250 seat venues respectively. I saw him in bmore, that was 500 seats. And you ignored the part where I said kountry wayne is producing his own skits that are bringing him in millions of dollars while putting on other celebrities and comedians.

The most accurate description I heard of Corey Holcomb was in this thread where someone said “Corey Holcomb is the joe budden of comedy”
Someone who just always gets in their own way.
