In pages from the upcoming issue and a brief ComicBook interview with Alonso, it is revealed that Steve's memories of recruitment to Hydra as a child and allegiance to Hydra were implanted by Kobik, the sentient Cosmic Cube that restored his youth and Super-Soldier status during Avengers Standoff! - and who was secretly under the control of the Red Skull at the time. This confirms one of the most widespread theories about Rogers' turn to Hydra-ism since the revelation of his secret in Captain America: Steve Rogers #1.
I got some shyt to say, but I'ma let this marinate amonst the rest of you first.
his plans is supposed to have begin before Marvel Now (there's some reference about Nick Spencer's run of Secret Avengers)
so he made his plan before gettin prof X powers
Peter Parker been Spider-Man for YEARS!!!!!!! and managed to keep his true identity a secret for a majority of them shyts
Miles Morales 5 issues in and damn near everyone knows hes Spider-Man
im exaggerating, but damn! Every issue someone gets in on the secret (and i understand we live in different times with the social media and shyt) but thats not even a contributing factor right now
and why is Maria Hill in EVERY Marvel comic right now?
why did no one tell me about Nighthawk? This version of this character been around for more than a decade and I just learned about his existence when the first issue dropped. There's a (alternative universe) militant black superhero who's pro-black to the max and takes no shyt from cacs? I would have never imagined a character like this existing in either of the big 2.
Dude is kicking cacs in the face in YEEZYS. Unapologetic and doesn't give a fukk what anyone thinks.
I really recommend everyone start with Supreme Power and Supreme Power: Nighthawk though, to get a better feel of his origins and basically his OG character development. This current run just jumps right in but it feels easier to know who the character was beforehand imo.
Just finished #2 and this series is already running STRONG. It appears to reminisce the old Supreme Power Nighthawk without skipping a beat and holding nothing back.
I can't wait till NH and the Revelator square up and how that's gonna play out when they're ideologically on the same side (as we're told)
The serial killer is killing cacs who did black folks wrong.
Not sure where I sit on Tilda, though. She's playing the chatty buddy sidekick role a little too much. Supreme Power Nighthawk had some help but he largely worked in silence and by himself and it suited him. NH would just lurk, do his thing, and bounce on some cool shyt. There was a lot more of a Batman, cerebral, hard-edge feel to his ventures and ways of solving crime. NH doesn't chatter and usually what he says have a lot of power and badassery behind it. if she was more quiet and behind the scenes she'd be perfect.
Hopefully Raymond/Kyle doesn't get diluted as the series goes on. If Walker tries to tone down his pro-blackness even just a little bit, it sort of misses the point of giving Raymond/Kyle those character traits and the role of his character in the first place. There's a very specific purpose with Nighthawk. But from what I read from interviews, Walker seems to know what's really up, so far.
If you really like this, instead of trade-waiting, you guys should buy every issue of this that comes out so this doesn't get cancelled and brushed out after the first 7 issues. This series by default has less attention value and no mainstream appeal and is barely on anyone's radar to begin with. Trade-waiting doesn't help the sales or the writer. Single issues fuel continuation.
