Why have vinyls jumped in popularity the past decade?
I can only speak on it from my personal perspective. But as someone that wanted to get into that shyt when I was in college (2004-2008: CD's were just beginning to die out at that point), and ever after when I started working right after college, I never had the disposable income for it. College was also when Dilla, Pete Rock, Premo Doom and Madlib left an indelible mark on my senses. I think it was when I started having to pull all night study sessions and spent hundreds of hours listening to instrumentals.

Fast forward to 2010-11 and that's when I started being able to put some money aside after my bills were taken care of to start my collection.

Was literally just talking to one of my good friends an hour ago and told him the thing I'm missing out on the most right now is being able to go to the record shop.

Vinyl. No “S.”

That said, it’s the act of truly being involved with the art-form of music in a physical sense. Before iPhones and iPods, before CDs, before cassettes and 8 tracks... there was vinyl. Put the record on, drop the stylus... and let it ride for 26 minutes. Then flip it and do it again.

Makes perfect sense to me. To others... fukk ‘em.

If you're going to post stuff like this, keep it to yourself. An article I just read said that resurgence is being led by younger Millenials/Gen Z. They grew up on CDs.
nikka fukk you and the whore that birthed you. I said "maybe" :krs:

I have something like 1100 records and been collecting since 15. I am strictly a collector with a single turntable. Right of the bat I collected underground rap 12-inches. My specialty is rare and obscure independent mid-90's rap 12 inches especially east coast (95%). Think of Shades Of Brooklyn, Natural Resources, Natural Elements, East Flatbush Project. I always supported the crews and clicks that recorded a dope song put a little chedda to press up 300 indy records. My highest paid records two records are
N.I.K Organization 40 USD
Die Hard Emergency EP 35 USD.

I have about 4,500 CDs and 700 records. I used to collect a lot of singles but since I’m not a DJ I got tired of having to switch the record all the time after the song finished. Now I collect LPs of blues, soul, rock, funk, jazz, hip hop, etcetera. Most of the stuff I listen to at home is on vinyl, but I have tons of digital and cassettes too.

I am comfortable and I love you
The jump in vinyl sales is mostly due to a fetish for the old school aesthetic and the fact that it looks cool on a shelf. Most of the young cats buying it don't actually listen to it. The majority got those bullshyt Crosley turntables anyway :scust:

Whatever makes people happy is cool to me as long as it ain’t hurting anyone.

That said, I’m glad the Crosley set ain’t actually playing the records. Those ceramic cartridges and stone cantilevers destroy the fukk outta some good vinyl.

Trust, I'm glad to see it as its allowed indie shops to thrive, and for me as a fan to see some amazing releases I wouldn't see otherwise.
