Any chance anyone has flown overseas since covid started? Is that shyt safe? :lupe: I keep seeing mixed information online, especially about longer flights (6+ hours). One source will say your chances of catching the rona on a flight are slim if everyone is wearing their mask :smugbiden: another source will say if you're on a long flight your chances of catching the rona increase 5x or 6x :sadcam::dead:

Anyone have any insight? :to:

Dammit. Planet ticket is $200 cheaper from when I bought it.

shyt pisses me off.
Never mind. Just realized you can change your flight for free this year.

So I changed it to the same flight and got a $200 credit. Good for one year.

How do you travel safely alone?

Planning a trip in a few months (still not sure where) but now I’m starting to think about it

-Where do you keep important documents like your passport? Do you have to carry it on you at all times, what is your ID then if you’re in a foreign country?

-What about money as well? Can you use an American bank in a foreign country like that?

-What happens if you lose your passport/wallet/etc and are left with no identification or money in a foreign country?

-What if you literally know no one in the area? How can you stay safe? Considering people kidnap tourists and stuff

Can you at least provide a region? My advice for Spain will differ completely from my advice for Dubai.

Your passport is a golden ticket. You must have it on you at all times. I carry a purse so it stays there.

Contact your bank beforehand so they know you will be abroad. You do not want your card being shut down or suspended. I try to keep 100 USD at all times through the entire trip. 300-500 when I enter the country to be converted into local money. (I tend to be really cautious)

Make sure 3rd doesn’t happen at all. However, this problem is easier to remedy in some countries rather than other.

Did you end up going?

Update 2
just got back Saturday

we could not fly directly into Cozumel
so we flew into Cancun , got a private shuttle to the ferry terminal and took the ferry over to the island
there was only 65 people on the flight over , but the ferry terminal was @ 80%
we talked to my doctor ( who actually had coronavirus in August) and she said for us to cover completely hoodie , gloves, eye protection/face shield and a mask (N95)
sanitize every seat you get in and put those clothes your wear down in your luggage or a bag that seals until you wash them.
if you can , do not remove the mask at the airport or on the plane at all.
you will have to show your face at the TSA checkpoint but i held my breath.

Cozumel was pretty safe, weird being there without the cruise ships , but it was nice to get away and help the economy there - its 98% tourist driven.
hard to belive, but some of these people in 2020 are trying to make it on $10 a day plus tips or comission if they are in the shops
we go at least twice a year since 2007 , so we know a lot of the locals on the island and the expats - ( we are actually going to retire there, or be snowbirds)
any store or retaurant you walk in you have to have your temp taken, sanitize your shoes , wear a mask and they give you hand sanitizer.

we were there for 2 weeks, ate out every meal and only had other customers with us in a restaurant 3 times and they were very far away, and a lot of their restaurants are outside anyway so we felt safe.
but cozumel can't be compared to mainland Mexico - its an island so its isolated and not very large only 29 miles around and only half of it is developed.

Self isolating now but haven't had a fever and we have a pulse oximeter to check oxygen levels

it was a decent trip , but can't wait until the majority of everyone can get vaccinated so it can return to normal
tourism has kept the cartels out of Cozumel , but when people get hungry attitudes can change.

having a family its impossible to travel especially during pandemic

alot of yall who are solo need to take advantage and explore the world brehs

mask up and live, work remotely and enjoy.
I haven't really traveled much in life. I'm 43 and planned to this year. I'll be a solo traveler and since I'm a novice, I was going to keep it simple...go to London. A large city in an English speaking country that's used to Americans. Then Covid hit.

I'm pretty sure foreign countries will require a vaccine to enter their borders at some point.

Note: I traveled a lot as a kid since my father was in the military (Germany, Alaska, 4 different states).

But as an adult, I have never traveled outside the United States for recreation (or any other reason).

This, our usual overseas vacation next year we already cancelled since we have an 8 month old and an almost 2 year old. We are sinking every dollar we usually would on flights and hotel so that instead of our normal 2 week vacation in Europe or Central America we will road trip for a month plus (since I’m a remote worker) and see America. Going to Dallas, Chicago, Denver, San Fran, LA, Vegas, Midland texas for family in that order. Plan on hitting Disney and a couple other spots in LA that will be at least 5 days chilling there. Been to all these cities in the list except San Fran.

I already have a Vw camper van but I’m leery to take it on a 6k mile journey since parts aren’t easy to find. May either buy an rv or just rent a regular passenger van and hit motels along the way.
