Unnerving Official Trailer for ‘Sator’ Promises a One-of-a-Kind Horror Movie Experience This February
The film, written/directed/edited and produced by Graham, was acquired by 1091 Pictures, and we’ve learned today that they’re bringing it to US digital on February 9, 2021.
“Secluded in a desolate forest home to little more than the decaying remnants of the past, a broken family is further torn apart by a mysterious death. Adam, guided by a pervasive sense of dread, hunts for answers only to learn that they are not alone; an insidious presence by the name of Sator has been observing his family, subtly influencing all of them for years in an attempt to claim them.”
Sator is quite personal to me, says Graham. “It delves into my family’s dark history with mental illness surrounding a supernatural entity, and uses home video footage to create an interwoven piece between documentary and fiction.”
For years generations of his family, including his grandmother, have claimed to make contact with a mysterious presence by the name of Sator, and the film features her own haunting accounts of contact.
Facts. That’s the new modern horror movie theme - we had found footage a decade ago, then paranormal/ghosts, prior to it was slashers and now it’s mental illnesses/ psychological disturbances. This looks good! Mental illness horror has been bodying the past few years too.
I like the fact that it’s filmed as a partial documentary with the first hand accounts meshed into the film. This looks good! Mental illness horror has been bodying the past few years too.
Dead End was a dark one. It managed to take a predictable path and throw in so much crazy, that you never got bored. I mean this in the best way...every character and plot point feels like a trope but then behaves in such a bizarre manner that the whole thing takes on an uncanny feeling. I think it's hard as hell to do "uncanny" without it coming off forced. But this one nails it even before the horror starts with a Jingle Bells sing along.
Everyone's behavior is just a smidge off. They all do well but Lin Shaye is the queen of this, it's why I love damn near everything she does.. even the Midnight Man. Anyway, Dead End gets a ton of authentic performances that are crucial because so much occurs off screen. I actually think it would have hurt the movie to have budget to show us more. Nothing is shown; it all relies on timing, cuts and reactions...but it landed for me.
for Lin Shaye and the madness.
Watched Jack Frost (the horror one) over the weekend...the fukkery was off the charts!

I'm glad you liked the movie since I was the one that recommended it. This movie really doesn't show a lot... it plays more on what you think is about to happen and your imagination which is a good thing when done right... and they did it perfectly. They also nailed the creepy atmosphere in this movie. I also agree with about the budget. If the film makers of this movie would have had more money they probably would have done too much and shown too much. They would have made the movie bigger than it need to be. Sometime when you're financially force to keep things simple and cut the fat... it makes things better.
I also agree with you about Lin Shaye. Her and the father(Ray Wise) did great job of bringing the madness.
How did you like scene where Lin Shaye had that *itch* in her head? Straight Madness!
