I caught a horror comedy that I thought was pretty fun called Eat Locals. The vampire population is dwindling and the leftover vampires of the UK all meet up for a once a century meeting at a farm in a remote area. Unfortunately for the vamps, the government is aware of all this and has the place surrounded with vampire hunting military teams that want to wipe them out while capturing one vampire alive. Think Dog Soldiers but in a role reversal, the monsters are the ones who are trapped.A third party to all this are unsuspecting locals that the different vampires tricked or caught to bring along in order to either increase their population or use for a mid-meeting snack.

That might sound dark, but it's actually overlaid with British Dry Humor on top of everything. The trailer captures the tone really well,

I'd put a bit of warning on to temper expectations on it though. It does everything alright and nothing great outside of a premise I sort of loved and a closing reveal that legitimately made me laugh. There are some visuals and gags that did get laughs out of me.

I will confess that for a premise I love, it's all a bit generic. The plot and characters aren't too deep. The action and effects are good but you can tell there was a budget. The humor does most of the lifting...but that worked for me. It had a charm about it that had me overlook shortcomings and just have fun with it. Plus it's pretty short and fast paced, so you're outta there before it loses that charm.

I saw Eat Local when it first came out and enjoyed it for what it was.

I mostly liked the world building with the vampires and the anti-vampire government agencies. A sequel would've been cool just to see those aspects explored more.

The reveal about the skin cream was stupid as fukk though.

A better budget sequel would be fire. Bring back the magic of every action scene with the grandma somehow and tighten a few things up, that's a fun a series to build.

That skin cream reveal was perfect for the tone of the entire rest of the movie imo.
