I am not that big a fan of the original Martyrs (once it shifted to non-stop torture at the hands of the silliest cult in the history of the world I pretty much checked out) but the re-make is such a sanitized version of the movie that even with the narrative changes that I think were a good move, the movie was still a pile of crap.

Martyrs remake is weird. It's def a cleaned up version of a movie that the average movie goer probably isn't going to watch. Unfortunately, it's still way to mean spirited for the group it's trying to reach, and it's not as "provocative" as the original. It's lacking, even with the tidying up of some of the originals profound dumbness.

I'll be honest i haven't seen martyrs..the Og vesrion let alone the remake..lol
i read and heard plenty of praises for the OG..but never got round to sit down and watch it..plus i've been heavily use to mad gore and crazy violence films before so and wasn't up for it..

when a serbian film was making some noise in the underground circuit, and heard a few potential scenes that would make a Nun throw her habit in the trash can and start prostituting herself because of how crazy and vile it was..i was interested and went out of my way to view it at a cult film festival (in Belgium)..i wasn't disappointed one bit!!

Just re-watched Demon Knight. Hadnt seen it since I was a kid in the 90s.

I was honestly expecting it to be garbage and not as good as my memory served.

But holy shyt brehs :whoo:

This film held up extremely well.

Billy zane was SWAGGED the fukk out as the villain. It had just enough camp without going too far. The demons themselves still looked as great and creepy as I remembered. And the mythology part was well done.

Funny seeing thomas haden curch as a scumbag with his nipples hooked up to a car battery.

A young jada pinkett :shaq:

This looks like the same god damn movie :beli: Why did they need to remake this only 15 years later? And since generational culture is nearly dead, It looks like the same time period too, nothing looks different besides the cast:snoop:

Eli Roth is championing this too. I don't get it.

I wonder if they kept the Pancakes Kid in or tossed that bizarre ass scene in the bushes?
