Pet Sematary being on it makes their list questionable from jump.

No, because the first 4 are solid picks especially with Horror Noire, Ready or Not and Midsommar. Dr. Sleep should have been ranked higher.

Watched “In the Shadow of the Moon” last night. Was more of a sci-fi with heavy political subtext (not executed deftly as it could have been) than the lovecraftian influenced story I expected, but it’s probably for the best. Anyway, it used the times to try to create a positive message with some nifty sci-fi screenwriting. However, when three white dudes make a movie about subject matter that is specific to non-white Americans there is some taking-to-task that needs to be done, in good conscience lol.

Have you seen Harpoon or Bliss? I don't recall hearing much about either of those movies this year.

Bliss is another mediocre Joe Begos movie lol. Good visuals though at the very least

Only thing I've heard of regarding Bliss is one of the hosts on Shock Waves put it on their best of list for the year. I think its coming to Shudder next month

Gonna drop my top ten of the year after I peep Ready or Not and a couple indie joints that caught my eye. It’s one of those years where I loved a lot of non-horror and wasn’t a fan of a lot of the more praised horror flicks. Even One Cut of the Dead shouldn’t really be categorized as such.

Commendable list - with the exception of Pet Sematary. Nos. 5,7,8, and 10 I haven't seen.

Can't argue with that. It was a supremely shallow ass 2 hours.

It wasn’t as meandering of a narrative as Enter the Void, and wasn’t as gratuitously fukked-up as Irreversible, nor was it as stupidly conceived as Love... but he seemed to be way too focused on technical aspects and mirroring his favorite filmmakers than having anything specific to say.

I gotta say though, that opening dance was awesome
