Rec 2 gets worse the more I think about it

First part of the movie is just a retread of the first while decent but worse in every way (the cam, the scares, the characters)
Second part of it features some unnecessary teens that ultimately just waste time
Final part gives some really unneeded explanation as to what really happened in the first and features a twist that soured on me minutes after I saw it.
I hear 3 and 4 are even worse

I heard they were both too different to even be compared to the first two. Basically different genres and tones. Give it a shot let me know lol

Yeah and she’s worked with Wan before on an upcoming movie. James Wan continues to do the Lords work and make his case as the new Wes Craven or John Carpenter.

REC 3 is a total departure from the story and characters set up in the first two movies. It started out with the conceit of the first 2 films where everything was found footage video but then it eventually switches to a regularly shot movie which helped a lot. It always was funny to me that they did that with this one since it was set at a wedding which gave them all the reason in the world to stick with the found footage style considering all the cameras that would be present at a big expensive wedding.
I hated every single character in REC 3 though. They were all awful, thinly drawn characters.
REC 4 goes back to following the adventures of reporter Angela Vidal but is just a straight movie with none of the found footage gimmick. It also does that thing that annoys me in sci-fi and horror movies where the cast is full of scientists and capable well trained soldiers but all of them act like morons who have zero training at all.
It is really bad.
You can see what they tried to do but the movie had an obviously miniscule budget and the script/direction was bush league.
Yeah I’m almost done with it and my thoughts are the same. I’m trying to find some bright spots. The rza score is kinda good. The intent is great. The acting is fine. But the script keeps letting everyone down. Even for a movie about teenagers.But mostly, it isn’t really a horror movie lol. It’s trying to do the scream thing and be a teen drama and a horror movie but it’s not doing the latter. Like, don’t forget to make your horror movie a horror movie
There were also some things that I just laughed at. Like some of the kids playing high school students looking like they should have been teachers.

And then having one character clearly act out some pretty serious psychological issues....for what?
I also had dude pegged as the killer from about his second scene in the movie.
