this track right here is actually scarier than the actual omen

Lol. I think thats the problem viewing most older horror films. You can still appreciate them for technical merits or their place in the history of horror cinema but ive never found any movie made before i was born that i watched later to be scary or even unnerving

I mean im sure for its time, the excorsist was scary as hell but by the time i watched it i was like :yeshrug:. Its still a good film, as are most classics. But so much of it is dependant on being there when it firat dropped.

When I was a kid i watched "It". I had nightmares for weeks. Movie terrified me.

But if you showed "It" to a teen now theyd :mjlol:

I watched the OG black christmas the other night and thought viewing it now its pretty laughable. Not scary or even interesting

Back when it dropped it was probably amazing.

I watch for the way it was done. Like to me The Shining, Friday 13, and Texas Chain Saw Massacre aren't that scary. I like
the atmosphere that those films gives. And what those directors were able to created.

Yeah which is what I was saying. I can enjoy quite a few of them for the film it is. But they arent scary because weve seen so many copy cats and modern horror films.

I mean, The thing is my favorite horror film of all time and I didnt see it until like 98.

Which is why I didn't have the exorcist in my top 10 horror flicks..and I've never liked the omen so whatever to that. I appreciate the hell out some older horror flicks..well all of them really, but only a few older ones have genuinely creeped me out or scared me

Got to see The Omen yesterday, and for the first time actually. It was ok, i like the characters, but that was about it for me.
At least with the Exorcist I like the story of Regan, her mother, and the Priest. All of the things they were dealing with.

Word. Omen doesn't work for me. Never has. It feels like an unintentional comedy at times

'House of the Devil' was the first of the 17 horror movie I've watched since October 1st, and I liked it, rated it B-, but I agree with the 'missed opportunity' criticism. The pay off didn't quite live up to the set up, which is often a common criticism from me to horror movies in general, but I like what it was going for. The directors 'The Inkeepers' is supposed to be really good, I may check that before month end.

As far as older horror movies, I understand that sentiment, and have some of the same feelings, but 'Suspira' doesn't get a reaction out of someone? That movie gets under my skin every time, and though I've only seen 2 of his other movies, in the last week no less, that shyt is scarier and more gruesome then anything I've seen over here for years….or at least comparable.
