Started my October horror movie marathon/contest with my friend yesterday, 7th year running.

Hold The Dark was first. C+.

The Fog 1984 version, I remember watching in 2014 for October, I liked elements of it, and there are a few, even relatively benign scenes (I remember a daylight walk to the lighhouse) and Carptenter's direction is just so good, it gives it all a sense of dread and unease. Very similar to the neighborhood scenes in Halloween, when Michael makes his first appearance.

I forgot how much I hated C. Thomas Howell's character in The Hitcher. I loved every second of torture that Rutger Hauer put him through in that movie.

So you guys are watching specific horror movies and then discussing them? I might try to get in on that. I only have Prime though.

Anyway, I watched Return of the Living Dead this morning. Annual viewing for me during the Halloween season. There's some great actors in that movie. James Karen and Don Kalfa were especially entertaining. I think the sequel is good, too, and I plan on watching that one soon.

To be totally honest I assumed he was done directing Conjuring movies after part 2 so I am not really all that disappointed or shocked by this announcement.
Gonna have to check out Chaves' other movie to see what his directing style is like.

Yeah I'm not shocked, just disappointed. I'm gonna give Chaves a chance, but I hope this franchise doesn't fall off the cliff like Insidious.
