Late Pass:
Finally watched the Witch after hearing some heads say they preferred it to Hereditary which I loved. I get the comparison; both are super layered family-centered horrors that treat supernatural aspects of the world as just a part of it with the scary stuff being mostly psychological. But Hereditary got me off of relating to the fears about inheriting illness with no ability to stop it whereas this one is a period piece about Puritans. I could see coming of age for females being a piece for a woman to find some psychological terror in; but the male leads weren't anything I could actually care about. Cinematography was fire though and created a good creepy ambience. Still, this ish is a one and done for me. The only thing that truly stuck was the incredible voice acting at the end "wouldst thou like to live deliciously?" Whoever did that vocal killed it. Otherwise, this was all the horror elements I tend to like but without having the impact that'd make it stay with me in a way that joints like Oculus and Hereditary did.
