Anyone hear about “In a violent nature”? It’s an art house slasher hybrid (weird I know). I was gonna watch it tonight until I seen a review that kinda turned me off of it.

Looks like it’s def a film you watch at home, I heard it’s slow as fukk

In theatres Friday

I'm going to check it out Friday night. Hoping to catch a good theater crowd.

I heard it got the "fresh" label because it uses a killer's POV most of the time.

Is anyone into analogue horror and can make some recommendations? I didn't know this was a genre until recently when I was searching for EAS/EBS/CONELRAD broadcasts and stumbled upon it.

This was really well done and creepy.

Had caught ‘In a Violent Nature’ last night. Enjoyed my time with most of it, but thought the ending fell completely flat. Felt like the A24 version of ‘Friday the 13th’ overall, where it was a combo of promise and meandering. You get these long, POV tracking shots of the killer walking about the forest that adds to the immersion, but they got tired for me after the first few times the film does it.

The F13 likeness comes through again when the dialogue is heard, it’s intentionally cheesy. The violence felt like a throwback too in that regard. Over-the-top in a laugh out loud way, but can still make an audience feel grimy as fukk after watching it. There was one particular scene that felt like something you’d see Jason Voorhees perform in a Mortal Kombat fatality sequence. :mjlol:

Girl said she wanted to be stretched out though, right? :heh:

I’d love this one way more had it ended like ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’, where the paranoia clearly has taken a toll on the final girl and you have the audience questioning whether or not Johnny is still trailing her. They decide to do similar, but it takes forever to get that message across here.

One thing I did like about the ending though is that it plays on your expectations. You’re damn near biting your nails at every moment because you think Johnny is about to reveal himself at any second, but he doesn’t.
