I understood why he'd want to add more beef to the backstory, I think that's a natural inclination for creatives and it gave him an easy way to be different...but adding a backstory and humanizing Michael Myers completely erases the symbolism of the character and removes the parts of the plot that make it REALLY scary as opposed to just another slasher flick. First one was meh but I could live with it, second one was a debacle!

The backstory we had was enough to show that Lil Mikey came from a pretty normal family and was just a psychopath even as a child.
We didn't need all the bullshyt with his mom being a white trash stripper, his step dad being a bum ass loser and his sister being a ho to try and explain Michael's reasons for being the way he is.

I'm glad the new Halloween is ignoring everything except for the first. That's how you do a sequel/reboot, rebuild off the one that got critical acclaim and go from there instead of remaking the same shyt. The Friday The 13th reboot needs to be a true sequel to the first movie instead of "reimagining".
