I got question for the fathers in this thread. I love horror movies, I've been that way since I was 8 years old. My first horror movie was the original evil dead. shyt scared the hell out me but I loved it and still love it. Recently I've noticed my daughter buying and checking "horror" books like goosebumps and she loves five night at freddy's. I told her I'll let her watch a horror movie with me but I don't know if I should throw her in the deep end with something gruesome or something light. Help a breh out and recommend a movie for me.

I Know What You Did Last Summer
The Frighteners
Night of The Living Dead (1990)
Drag Me To Hell
The Innkeepers

All legit horror but nothing too intense that would scar the kid and I am almost 100% sure no nudity because no parent or child wants to be watching a movie with naked people in it with their kid/parent.

My dad was a serious horror head so when my friends were still watching age appropriate kiddie shyt my dad and I were having movie nights where we watched The Shining, Dawn of the Dead, The Exorcist, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Amityville Horror.

Nah breh a kid is fragile. You might want to reconsider throwing her into the deep end. Better be safe then sorry.

Maybe start of with a goofy horror like gremlins or something.
This, or more psych horror that she can't really understand....psycho, shining, maybe even some stupid stuff like chucky. I think the furthest I'd go with a kid is the ring...shyt, they don't know what the fukk a VHS is, they'll be more focused on figuring out what the fukk technology the video is on

How do y'all find horror movies to watch? I really have a short attention span therefore movies are a big undertaking for me. I get highly annoyed investing time in a movie that really sucks to me. I understand some people enjoy the campy, cliche, tropey type horror and see things like that as part of the art of the genre, but I don't (tho unintentional comedy is welcome like that movie the boy with Maggie from walking dead lol). I try keeping up with this thread, but y'all recommend a lot of gore and I find that to be one of the WOAT subgenres of horror, so what blogs do I need to hit to find my type of movies.

Also, what platforms y'all using to watch movies? Netflix and prime got crap, I don't mind renting something from prime but it has to be worth it, I got kodi of course as well...

I don't know...:patrice:

I'm tempted to throw her into the deep end but I'm hesitant because I want don't her having nightmares or night terrors. I want to scare her not scar her I suppose...
I'd start with stuff with a comedy angle and/or pg13 stuff.

See how she handles that first.

Maybe some thing like 1408 even.

The others
Insidious
Drag me to hell
Tremors
Krampus
The sixth sense
What lies beneath
Disturbia

Fair:obama:
You mentioned she like fnaf which is more suspense than full on jumscare horror,so we'll start with those:
It Follows:Some say it's overrated, but I personally enjoy it.It's got a good pace and some scary moments (even if I thought the ending was a bit farfetched...and I guarantee it'll scare her off sex)
Similarly Don't Breathe has some good suspense although the whole semen plot may be a lil much for a young girl.If you wanna go back a little I highly recommend Suspiria, which was the first horror I ever saw.The Descent is just fukked.

Now if you want some straight up "Horror" the original IT is guaranteed to scare a kid.The Japanese Grudge movie too if she's down for reading subtitles :whew:

:patrice:

You really suggest he should watch a movie about a demonic std transferred through demonic sex, with his baby girl?

Edit: original It is deffo a great suggestion
It Follows was showing damned near nonstop on Showtime but I never could catch it. I see it's on Netflix now. Is it worth a watch? :lupe:

Breh:whoo:

If you like a suspenseful, claustrophobic horror it's definitely for you.Imagine something that can shapeshift into anyone you know of a stranger. It don't think or talk so you can't reason with it,no one knows why it's here or where it came from but it wants to kill you.It can sneak up on you anytime and leave your mandem bloody like raw meat:damn:

I loved everything about this;Pacing(though like I said I didn't care for the ending),soundtrack, the monster (very original). It ain't for everyone but I always say go for it when you can.:banderas:
