This shyt was intense as hell and puts a lot of these recent NC-17 films to shame. Them Frenchies donā€™t give any fukks at all. :dead:

Loved how unapologetically drab this looked. Some of the production initially came off cheap as fukk but the shot composition surprised the hell outta me. They made every angle count, which only added to the paranoia of it all. The story is well grounded with no supernatural elements and the antagonist actually came off creepy with their mannerisms and the way their shadows would traverse the main leadā€™s house.

One may come out thinking this would be more digestible had it cut down on the gore, but I thought that was one of the pointers that made it such an effective film. Not sure how different it would stand out from the rest of these home invasion flicks had it cut those sensitive corners.

That being said, this was a really good flick but not sure if/when Iā€™ll watch it again. There were a few nightmarish scenarios here that will stick with me for a while. The ones that I just donā€™t know how I would respond to if they actually happened to my loved ones.

Update: this movie was so bad that I stopped after 30 mins. :francis:

The pacing is terrible, characters annoying, just everything is blah

from around 2003 -2008 , French horror was on another level
the horror brehs on SOHH swore this run was unfukkwittable and i really can't disagree

you will need a strong stomach for each of these

High Tension (Haute Tension) 2003
Brutal, gory - someone called it the Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets Psycho of France when it came out

Them (2006)
Probably the most tame out of the bunch and that's saying a lot

Frontiers (2007)
movie is intense as fukk

Inside (A la interieur) 2007, can't explain it better than what you stated

Martyrs (2008) not the BS remake
(actually filmed in Canada)
best ending in Horror since The Thing
Side Note ( Movie was so raw the SFX guy Committed suicide after making it):ohhh:

to paraphrase Joe,
You ain't a true horror fan if you ain't watched these, Jack!:smugbiden:

Despite all of your better warnings, I have to see Skinamarkink with my own eyes since it's causing so many debates and discussions. I'm saving it for when I get home tonight and can take down a nice batch of edibles to give it the best chance of immersing me.

...I'll probably be really pissed off about it tomorrow :mjlol:
Did you end up watching this?

Finished watching The Craft earlier. Solid flick. Wish I could throw Fairuza Balk into the Lazarus Pit because I think she would make a fantastic Harley Quinn. That damn batshyt smile. Rachel True was 30 here and she looked like she was in her early-early 20s tops. Still looks good to this day. Further evidence of black not crackinā€™. :whew:

Dug the vibe though and I can see why itā€™s a comfort, time capsule flick for many. This movie is PEAK 90s, lol. The soundtrack, the grunge/goth teen angst, and fashion pieces jump out and itā€™s no shock it was a hit. Encapsulates the pleasantries (and cheesiness) of the decade in a similar way as Scream and The Faculty. I think this is also where that Charmed show got a lot of its inspiration from now that I look back.

Plot isnā€™t a game-changer, but I liked the whole ā€œcareful what you wish forā€ morality tale it had going for it. Definitely can see myself coming back to this one.

2023 updated horror trailers
:blessed:

(Side note - go ahead and fast forward at the 7:10 -9:02 mark)

Question : has anyone noticed the trend of people putting bible verses under these trailers in the comments. Like why?? We are not godless deviants- we just like watching scary movies.

:what:
I believe in God, higher spiritual authority and good too lady and I have a moral code, I just like horror movies, people react like watching horror movies/shows is equal to devil worship or our souls need to be saved :palm::ohmy:

But these same YouTube comment preachers will go out and watch a DC comics movie full of satanic references

Craft is one film Iā€™ve been wanting to add to my collection for a while. Havenā€™t seen it since around the 90s; maybe since it dropped.

I watched the Craft last year and I agree with everything you said. I also think what makes it so 90s is that its about witches. There were so many witch movie/tv shows in the 90s. My guess is that Carrie influenced a lot of filmakers in the 90s while some others were cashing in on the craze.

I remember when Rachel true had to put event organizers on blast for not inviting her to the conventions as part of The Craft reunions
she was one of the main characters...wtf!!!???:mindblown:
