Yeah is saw that.
Hard to get excited about a prequel series.

Pamela Begins: :dead:

Maybe Jasons dad was a hockey player:russ:

But seriously.
If done right. A nightmare on Elm Street prequels series would be fire.

I was thinking that too but I don't want to see the Springwood Slasher killing young kids. That's a little too real.

I also thought they might as well do Sleepaway Camp if they can't use Jason. Then I remembered Angela was forced to be trans and murdered people and the LGBTQ+ people might come after the show.

I can't really think of a new horror franchise being a tv show. I would like to see a Tales from the Hood series. They could make it like the Wire were its about a certain hood and every episode it can be a different type of horror movie.

Yea I watched that. That got me back into AHS and I watched all the season up till that point. I originally stopped at season 3 when they went on their mid season break.

I've been watching hella horror but slacking in this thread to have discussions. I won't remember them all and it would be too long to post everything.

So from the top of my head

Halloween Ends sucks with how they tricked us. They really made the film about a character we don't care about the central focus, someone who didn't exist before-- this series with profoundly detailed lore. The trailer is super misleading, it makes it seem like Laurie and Michael are about to go all out. And Michael doesn't which is a goddamn shame. Storyline-wise, it makes sense but you also have to know your audience and realize this shyt wasn't entertaining at all. Probably the worst Halloween film in the franchise. Yeah, there are other Halloween movies written worse but at least Michael is Michael and there are no Busta Rhymes in this film.

Barbarian was dope. I can see this being a top-5 scary movie of the year. It's a reminder of how strong horror movies went this year. There are so many films this year that I haven't even watched. It makes me excited to see the future of horror. The genre has respect, the audience is growing and there is something for everyone. I preferred act I over the entire film. Bill Skarsgård is making himself a household name in horror. JL is already a household name in horror though to the point I feel that he's mad underrated. Whenever he's in a horror film I instantly watch-- no ands, ifs, or buts about it. Seeing Long look older was the first time in my life that I felt like I'm getting old. I remember breh from Jeepers Creepers and looking like a 20-year-old for 20 years.

Pearl. I respect this series for giving horror attention. But just like with X, Pearl is just okay to me. My favorite part of both films is Mia Goth. She's dedicated to her acting and it pays off. But the praises the series gets I'm just like "eh". One of the first times I'm out of the horror loop where I'm not understanding the hype. Decent film tho.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie, Sabrina the Teenage Witch Movie- I wanted to give it a shot because why not. I vaguely remember the series. The movie was cool for what it was. It's funny how the movie cast isn't the tv cast tho. I added Sabrina into the mix because it's literally the same shyt. I didn't know both movies existed and the casts are entirely different, except for Melissa Joan Hart playing her role. I was fukking dying watching Ryan Reynolds in the Sabrina film lol. I don't remember the tone of Buffy the Vampire Slayer tv show, but the movie was silly. I know Sabrina's tv show is light-hearted and silly so the movie threw me off with how there's no sitcom audience and the subject matter of school issues lol.

From the movies I remember watching

Loved it

Silence of the Lambs - Talked more about it earlier but I forgot to add that I really enjoyed the way they handled Clarice being a woman in this movie.

Don't Breathe - I loved the suspense between the thieves and Stephen Lang when he was on screen. I also liked that Stephen Lang wasn't a supernatural blind man.

Drag me to Hell

Toxic Avenger - The action scenes in this movie have no right being this good.

Happy Death Day - Not scary but every other thing they went for they nailed.

Barbarian - 2nd favorite horror movie I've seen this year behind X.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space - I liked that the ex-boyfriend and boyfriend weren't fighting over the girl the whole movie. I found the movie to be funny, and I liked the design of the clowns.

Stir of Echoes - I can see something like this happening. This is a movie I can appreciate more that I got older. I do wish they had a better reason/way the girl gets killed off.

Liked it

Child's Play 3 - I don't think this movie is as bad as everyone says it is. I was never bored watching it. The ending wasn't the best. I used to watch this aa lot as a kid so I'm probably biased.

Happy Death Day 2U - Not as good as the first but worth watching for sure.

Halloween III - Tom Atkins was the best douchebag that you root for in this movie.

Terrifier - Was like an old VHS tape you stumbled across in a video store

Was ok

Pearl - Mia Goth's acting was great. I liked the way the movie looked like a technicolor film. The only worth parts for me was Mia Goth's long monologue, which was a one shot for ~ 6 minutes, and her face during the closing credits.

Terrifier 2 - Was like a DVD you stumbled across in a video store after Hostel came out.

Hated it
Idenity - This isn't for me. John Cusack was cool but the twist wasn't for me. Maybe they set it up more in the movie but:manny:

John Carpenter's Village of the Damned - The beginning was great. The movie lost me somewhere down the line

Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D. - Nah this one ain't for me. I stopped looking for another Toxic Avenger after I watched this.

Tusk - The walrus costume was funny but :manny: Favorite non horror movie I watched this month was Clerks 2

Coming back to this after the news of the prequel series today. I want this to be successful, but right now it’s hard seeing such. :mindblown:
I’m a big fan of Hannibal and Mind Hunter as shows. So I’ve still got optimism about them pulling this off. The only issue to me is that Fuller kinda just dropped mind hunter when it was ripe for another season or more. If this can come prequel can be near the level of those shows, it’ll be really good.

Fuller is usually on point,
but most of his ideas were still used for Star trek Discovery season one , so :patrice:

Deadstream was fire to me. I can't really explain it but I just loved all the references to streamer culture and it was just spooky enough for me to be entertained the entire time. Reminds me of Hell House LLC but with a little more levity.

Terror Train was a good watch. I know they just remade it but the OG was cool for what it was. shyt kinda dragged tho.

Run sweetheart Run was almost perfect. That 3rd act is all over the place. I hate when horror movies go away from the horror to do other shyt at the end. It was my complaint with Nope. I was really liking it too. Reminded me of Sweetheart and I thought they tackled some social themes okay....until the last 20 minutes or so. Sad.

Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum was a solid found footage movie. Set in Japan with subtitles I liked most of this movie. Hella tension and some good scares.

I finished the night watching people stream the Outlast trials. That game is gonna be fire based on the beta. Might be the first one I actually play.

You’re thinking of Fincher for Mindhunter but yeah Fuller is a big ass get for the series. I hope he doesn’t drop out before production begins. :lupe:

Joshua Encinias: At the New York Film Festival, you talked about your appreciation of John Carpenter’s movies and I wonder if you will elaborate on it?

Luca Guadagnino: “Let’s clear the table. John Carpenter is one of the greatest living American directors. Period. His cannon is almost unmatched, and some of his movies have been a constant paramount for me. From Halloween, to The Fog, to The Thing to Big Trouble in Little China, Vampires, all of these are amazing. Of course, one of the most influential movies he made for me is Prince of Darkness and They Live. He’s political, he’s subversive. He knows cinema by heart. He’s one of the great Hollywood directors. The lesson of Howard Hawks concludes in him. I completely love his work and I heard that he’s going to make a new movie. So I am really looking forward to it. Every movie I’ve seen of John Carpenter, and I’ve seen them all, has been for me a constant surprise and source of inspiration. Sublime.”

What this boy cookin’ up?! :damn:

On another note, Bones & All in theaters Nov. 18th
