I didn't know that. Just looked him up and he also wrote 4 episodes of The Walking Dead and none of them were favorites of mine.

What's yall opinions of mike flanagan?
I like him. He has shown that he is one of the more impressive new horror voices. Only one of his films that I haven't liked at all was BEFORE I WAKE. I think the best thing about him is that he isn't a one note writer/director...HUSH, OCULUS, OUIJA:ORIGINS OF EVIL and BEFORE I WAKE are all very different films.
Really interested to see how his take on GERALD'S GAME turns out and I am all in on the HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE series he is doing.

I didn't care for his ouija prequel. Just felt like a poor man's james wan with bad cgi.

Orphan wasn't that bad,loved conjuring 2.

I'm okay with this.

There's more bad elm street films than good ones anyway.

The Invitation(2015) is a nice slow burner that fans of Hitchcock, mysteries, suspense and thrillers might enjoy. However it can be frustrating as it was for me but you'll only understand that by watching. I appreciated the fact that their weren't constant jump scares in here, they just let the atmosphere and tension build throughout.

I can see how the slow pace would turn some people off and I could also see how being irritated by what's going on can turn people off. I was literally yelling at the screen, haven't done that in a while.

That's more of a thriller and yes a very great movie

I was listening to a podcast recently and I agree with the hosts: we need to get rid of that term "thriller." All it is is a Hollywood construct because horror was deemed too low brow and too nasty and not commercial enough

I think the terms describe 2 different types of movies

Horror:
an intense feeling of fear, shock, or disgust.

Thriller:
a work of fiction or drama designed to hold the interest by the use of a high degree of intrigue, adventure, or suspense

at least I go in expecting a different type of movie when I see thriller rather than horror as its genre

See to me it's all horror. But that's also me knowing why they invented that word and we all bought into it. When movies like silence of the lambs or fatal attraction are hits they want to pretty them up and turn them into safe bets. Horror is normally relegated to the trash bins

The Evil Within is a horror film written and directed by Andrew Getty. It was originally titled The Storyteller, and tells the story of a special-needs boy who talks to his own reflection in a mirror, which becomes a demon of his dreams that tells him to commit murder.

The film was a personal project of Getty, who largely self-financed the estimated cost of four to six million dollars of the production that took 15 years to complete. It was released in 2017, two years after Getty's death in 2015.[3]
