Lmao at the “nice” girl from Pitch Perfect, Brittany Snow, being a 70s smut.

I guess the typecasting days for her are over
:picard:

I didn’t even realize that was the same woman until after the first 40 mins of the movie. Like holdddd up…. That’s the girl from Pitch Perfect
:ohhh:

@MartyMcFly i watched Cursed II - the Wizard of Oz.
They really fed a 16 year old Judy Garland amphetamines and sleeping pills to make sure she didn’t gain weight, stayed alert and made her sleep when the pills kept her awake. DF??!!!

Personally, I Never understood why that movie was marketed as a “family film” bc my first memory of seeing it was thanksgiving dinner at my grandmother’s house and it scared the shyt out of me. Flying monkeys, green witch, singing munchkins - that did not leave me with pleasant memories. House caught in a Tornado. Even the dance scenes were weird. Never ever liked that movie- Friday the 13th wasn’t my first horror movie experience - WOfO was.
:hhh::gucci:

And yes, I do believe that a munchkin committed suicide by hanging and the studio tried to cover it up to not associate a dead dwarf with the Wizard of Oz. Entire movie was SINISTER.
:scust:

I saw the movie X last night I feel like it deserves an in-depth review. Spoilers ahead.

About 10 years ago Ti West was a name that you'd hear about being having NEXT as a horror movie filmmaker. He deserved it after V/H/S, The Innkeepers, and The House of the Devil. The Innkeepers and The House of the Devil we're homages to horror films in the past when Horror movies at the time relied heavily on cgi, torture porn, and jump scares. West brought us films that felt like they belonged in the video rental store with some of our favorite movies that we watched over and over. X is West's newest homage film and it feels like the movie you always heard about but could never watch because it was too violent and no video store would ever carry it. After watching this movie I don't ever want to hear someone say, "You can't do that in movies today." Seriously if this movie came out in the 1970s it would be banned from theatres and when ever the movie would make rounds to your town it be followed with white ladies holding picket signs saying
children.gif

This movie is titled X because you think the plot is about the people shooting a porno.
shannon-sharpe-undisputed.gif

This movie is tilted X because in 1979 when this movie takes place and when it would have released it would have featured an X rating. I had to watch a comfort movie after seeing this shyt:damn: I said Nah to Beetle Juice and Ghostbusters II because I didn't want to see nothing horror adjacent. If I had Disney+ I would have put on The Sword and The Stone. X turned me back into a kid, and I loved it:mjlit:

The movie starts off with a camera in the doorway. It took awhile for me to recognize the camera was in a doorway because at first I thought it was in 4:3. The movie was preparing me to go back in a time before I had a fancy widescreen tv and was watching something on tape in the family living room. They give you a crime scene where the majority of the movie takes place. I believe they do this so you can guess what happened to the characters which is ok because you damn sure aren't going to guess how it happened.

The movie introduces you to the victims and you don't necessarily care for them until after the first porno scene is finished. Friday The 13th Part IV is one of my favorite Jason movies because it has the best group of victims in it. This movie gives you enough that you think the people on screen are real enough people. In typical A-24 fashion you forget you're watching a Horror movie until something horrific happens. When something horrific does happen the movie doesn't stop and gets crazier and crazier. I think the whole cast did a great job. You got you're horror movie staples like the slut, the nerd, the no nonsense vet, the party girl, the innocent girl. You even kinda have the "I can't believe he was in this movie" guy with the porno producer because the whole time I was watching the movie I thought he was a Wilson brother doing an old Matthew McConaughey performance. The movie doesn't try to be meta like Cabin in the Woods or try to have ahhh ha bet you didn't see that coming. It gives you what you expect but it does it in a way that you've never seen before and when you think it's over it keeps going and the camera doesn't pull away.

All of the kills in the movie are great with only one exception. Kid Cudi was the only death in movie that wasn't satisfying. The first death is by an old lady and she kills a man with a brutality that I haven't seen since Michael Myers in the Rob Zombie movies. The old lady kept stabbing this poor man's neck like MM did in those films. All the gore looks realistic and the camera isn't afraid of showing it.
Thought I was the only one who noticed this- Definitely was a throwback to Rob Zombie’s brutality sequences in Devil’s Rejects, RZ Halloween :wow:and grind house type films.
Lot of people don’t want to accept that but RZ is influential. The stabbing decapitation scene is textbook of this.

This movie right here - I recommend. Not a horror movie per se but it shows the outcomes of greed and boundary crossings with the normal cartel murder fukkery. Everyone in this movie is a straight up psychopath

Best scene in the movie - Spoiler

@KevCo this movie X is one of those horror movies that you have to watch for yourself
:mjlol::mjlol:
@storyteller was right about the Texas Chainsaw homage - lot of references.

That being said - you will never catch me traveling through Texas for any road trips.
:hubie:
Did not know alligators are in Texas, I thought this was a Florida thing??!! There’s alligators in Texas??
:mjtf:

The only issues that I have with this movie is the
old people sex scene was tooooo much :gag::gag:what the fukkkkk yuckkkkkkk
And “Church Mouse” being a dumbass
:francis:
I’ll rate this a 7/10- didn’t like the stereotype trope with Kid Cudi, unnecessary nude scenes in certain parts and seeing the bag of bones mentioned above. And there was a lot of foreshadowing that made a few scenes predictable.
:salute: yea i watched it and had it as a 7/10 myself. That spoiler tag is 100%where i felt sick and laughed at the same time :russ:dont think ive ever had that reaction brfore lol… it was solid. Not the best. I was slightly disapointed as i had really high hopes based on the director’s previous work combined with my love of the first Texas Chainsaw. And yes i kinda thought church mouse was going to have a bigger play in the ending.
like being alive, but thats based on the fact she was just in scream so :yeshrug:
Still a decent watch tho. A few scenes made me laugh out loud for real towards the end.

But the adults didn’t even see the movies. :dwillhuh:

They did show the kid a lot while watching the movie.

What I mean is that the second one player from the child's perspective of watching the films. The original ran with Ethan Hawke watching the films as the father. Then the twist was that his daughter had also been viewing them and was being recruited/possessed by Bagul. The second film basically attempted to show us what that recruitment/possession looks like. But I think they made it kinda corny instead of scary. It wound up playing more campy than it should have. I think the original actually stumbled into camp territory at a couple of spots too, but the sequel kicked it way up.

I thought Brittany Snow was the heart of the movie and would've been cool with her being the final girl instead of Mia Goth if Ti West would've wanted to flip expectations midway through the film.
She starred in another horror movie (besides the terribly Prom Night remake) that I have always thought was pretty underrated called Would You Rather. It also starred the legend Jeffrey Combs.

I don’t even get scared from horror movies anymore. I enjoyed both films, but no way is part 2 any better than the first. :usure:

Think I might watch this Titanic 666 nonsense this weekend:

Did you end up watching this. I might need to reserve this movie for when I’m in a bad mood and need mindless fukkery for laughs

i saw Would You Rather- I forgot that was her. And Prom Night was decent.

It’s not so much her being In horror movies - Idk for some reason, the sex scenes seemed total opposite of her on screen personality and image. Very unexpected. I had to hit the fast forward with that kid cudi part bc it was just weeiirrrdd asf. To me it’s like if Victoria Justice from the Nickelodeon show, Victorious that I watched, were to be in a Rob Zombie movie playing Sherri’s sexually suggestive sister and went on a serial killer rampage. Like that ish is not supposed to happen. :weirdo:
Like some show you watched when you were younger and you think of that a certain type of way.

:mindblown: No one said part 2 is better than the first one. I said they had a cool idea for the sequel but messed it up on execution. That's all I'm saying.
@The Collector is a troll- I ignore literally anything he posts. He likes to create arguments in this thread just to start some shyt and fuk up the flow of the thread. He must be bored.

Mia Goth has that rugged emo rebellion aspect that meets her acting persona that played well with this movie. And there’s the prequel that’s coming - I can’t see Brittany carrying that off. I was hoping Brittany would survive for a sequel, bc she’s one of the few white female actors that I can tolerate and as you mentioned, she has the horror background. I hope she parlays the success of X into the career boost that has her in more horror films .
