Flanagan’s style is so perfect for this. Can’t wait.

Absolutely, Poe + Flanagan really seems like a glove fit and the House of Usher in particular has a lot of space for building up during the events of the story. That's a bit different with a lot of the other Poe stuff where you'd either have to invent more in the backstory (Tell-Tale Heart and Pit and the Pendulum) or probably have to add on to the end (Cask of Amontillado, my personal favorite).

Fall of the House of Usher and The Mask of the Red Death are the perfect Poe stories for Flanagan IMO. Actually, I rewatched Insidious 2 last night and Red Death might work really well for James Wan who slips in a lot of "you see it in the background but the protagonist doesn't" for his build-ups to a scare.

This side of Cage’s personality can partly explain why the role of Dracula in “Renfield” might’ve attracted the Oscar winner. Cage also said that watching James Wan’s horror movie “Malignant” last year made playing a vampire and starring in a horror movie all the more appealing.

“The key, I think, is movement,” Cage said, “I saw a movie called ‘Malignant’ and the director James Wan and the actress [Annabelle Wallis] created this choreography that was terrifying. So I’m hoping to do something like that where Dracula can either glide or move like Sadako in ‘Ringu.’”

Also, the movie is written by one of the Dan Harmon off-chutes whose written for Community and Rick and Morty. Those cats have been getting poached by Marvel and doing really well because the story circle is a dope tool and creativity in a Harmon writing room has to be nuts. I'm excited to see what this turns into.

This is sooooo boring right now - I can’t get into it.

i think that I have maxxed out on psychological horror fellas. That’s allllll ive been watching for like 2 months. I can’t. I need ghosts, demon possessions and severed limbs, shock gore - more slashers and less indie, arthouse, mental psychological slowwwww burn. I have psychological horror fatigue. I can’t wait to see scream 2022 on paramount . All of these filler movies aren’t cutting it until I do. Please pleasssee drop any reccs for newer non psychological horror - I need the psychotic . I’m struggling finding decent stuff to watch in 2022.

The Last Matinee is on Shudder now and it's pretty much just a visceral slasher movie:

I've tried to watch it twice and threw in the towel both times

Fam...I definitely watched this at least halfway through. But I either never got through it or it lost me so bad that I've forgotten how it ends...I almost never stop a movie once I get past a quarter of the way. So either way, I co-sign you in not liking it :mjlol:

They had Freddy looking like an old “get off my lawn”
White dude. That original man looks too cerebral to play Freddy. Like he would hold you in a basement room at an abandoned castle, force you to dress up in formal school
Uniform attire, make you write Shakespeare quotes 100 times a day until you can recite them from memory and then kill you in your sleep.

Still one of my favorite horror movie quotes :dead:

It’s his “bytch” word usage to me….

Parents letting me watch Nightmare on Elm street sequels from childhood to teenage girl years, every sequel or rerun multiple times; then wondering why I get in trouble for cursing at school, at the babysitter, at my friends…
“Bytch, bytch, bytch.. bytch..”
